A large, flying bird. Perhaps the bald eagle, that would be cool then I would be protected in the U.S. I often have dreams where I am flying, and wonder if I have been a bird in a past life.

They seem to have a largely (pardon the pun) calm disposition.

They are communal, or at least the females are. I'd want to be a female elephant.

They are respected for their size, live long lives, enjoy raising several generations of children, and flourish near water.

I'm not so big on heat, so I'd want to be somewhere that doesn't suffer drought.

Butt if you were a pampered pooch, you could watch your owner's big screen TV while they were away at work, with no flies buzzing around your butt 365 days a year.

i would return as a Peregrine Falcon, which i've watched for countless hours in the high mountains of the Rio Grande in the Big Bend

they prey on slower birds ... their kill dives can reach 200 mph .... with their talons extended in a dive, it's like supersonic razor blades & a sledgehammer ... beautiful bird!
