Sorry no. While I understand what you're saying I do not completely agree with it. Pre-condom is a term coined so that people like ChiChi LaRue could sell bareback but still do a PSA against it
bareback is not using a condom. Period.
"Pre-Condom" is like a Hallmark holiday. It may have already existed but now you can make money from the term.
You agree with me on "pre-condom". It is a marketing term to make money off the barebacking market for some, or a label for pre AIDS, vintage videos to others. I personally don't have an issue with that, as AIDS is a fact of life (for some) and they are videos made before the introduction of condoms into gay porn.
There was some suggestion by some porn industry people that "pre condom" should be promoted as a alternative for newer made bareback videos , thus not encouraging the practice nor actually putting someone at risk.
Some studios, like Falcon, have been criticized for labeling their "pre condom" videos as "Classic Bareback".
But sorry, no. Barebacking exists as a definition in context and time. You can go back and
retroactively apply the term to all anal sex pre 1980s, before the need for condoms to protect gay men against HIV, but that's not what anal sex was called by gay men then.
If you got junk mail, coupons, flyers, sent to your physical home mailbox twenty years ago before the internet, did you call it spam?
A straight friend of mine liked getting a "Lewinsky". Before 1995 did people call getting a blow job that?
If twenty years ago, you said you were looking for Tina, would you have been given meth or Tina Louise or Tina Turner?
If you asked Oscar Wilde if he was a "friend of Dorothy" would he say yes and tell you how he loved Glinda's gown or asked if you, yourself, knew the painter, Lady (Dorothy) Stanley?
I know that the lines have been drawn about who likes bareback porn and who thinks it's dangerous and I am not going to convince anyone who has already chosen their side. But realize that language is tied into context and time. "Barebacking" , an almost completely gay term, is linked to the deliberate absence of condoms or engagement in high risk sex because it describes a behavior in the timeframe and context of the AIDS era.
I wish it we did not have to worry about such things, but there you are.
