Lol seriously for all of you not inclined to drop a thousand on a charitable cause, you might start with a simpler form of charity in making more of an effort to understand the sincerity motivating the actions of others.

It sounds like a lovely occasion. The sentiment is fairly obvious to me: "We're going to do a good thing for a group that needs it, and we're going to use this as a pretext for a nice fancy lunch we could've done anyway." I don't know about you, but I always digest better after a good deed.

I was originally giving the benefit of the doubt and treating your OP as an attempt at humor that merely fell short of its mark. I decided to play along and add my own humor..... Hey everyone...wish me luck. Tomorrow I get to ask an audience to help us raise another 3.5 million dollars for a cause that we are leading...it looks like a great dinner too! And Willie...however exorcised you are with me...and it seems to be mightily...the truth is, I couldn't care less who you decide to write as big a cheque as you can to....I just hope this whole discussion prompts you to do it...if only to rub my nose in it.

I have given the posters who requested it, the info on one of the charities that I would love people who can afford it to give $1000 to...but honest to God...for some of you...I'd be asking for 5 times that much before I'd sit through lunch not matter what the 'venue' was.
