If you were on the Titanic as it was seaking into to the ocean how would you try and to survive it without going down with it?

I would definitely try and get a life boat and get in it if I could and be safe with any of my family if they were aroumd together.. I don't think i would wanna be in that freezing water and die like that all those pour ppl who died. :(

I'd have tried to find something to float on but if I had to give up my ride I would have done it to save someone else.

I think there is no honor for a captain to go down with the ship. Its dumb if you ask me. As long as he is a good guy and not crooked, let the captain live

I thought the part where Jack and Rose (Its on right now but Im not watching it) are in the lower decks and some were locked, that would be scary.

I would take freezing to death over other ways a person could die.

The big "hey wait a minute" moment is Rose is on the raft and there was enough room for Jack.

Most people didn't have a choice. I likewise would have tried to find something that floated.

Sadly, the greatest number were drowned in the ship. The bastards running it were not letting any working people up on deck until the fucking 1% were into the insufficient lifeboats that could even be launched with the ship listing.

Some crew even got into the boats with passengers (including women and children) still forbidden to come up on deck from 3rd Class.

The only way I could have been on a luxury liner would be the same as how I fly, in steerage.

Unfortunately, even those who may have been flushed up and out or otherwise made it on deck were quickly killed by shock unless they were the very few who had a lifeboat come back for them. The boats rowed out in fear of suction when the ship was going down. By the time the few that turned back returned in the dark, most had drowned after freezing in the frigid North Atlantic.

It is one of the most tragic events in modern history. The dead were buried in Halifax where they washed ashore for some time afterward. God rest those poor souls.

Some of the dead found later were buried in Halifax (mostly first and second class passengers) where they washed ashore for some time afterward. Others (third class passengers mostly) were buried at sea. God rest those poor souls.

Fixed that, apologies for interfering.

There were reports weeks later of a number dead seen far to the east, floating on something rather large. Now that we know the ship broke up, it is speculated that it was the forward Grand Staircase (there were two) that 'popped out' of the ship as it was sinking--there is no evidence of it in the wreck, but evidence of the other one, plus much more wood still survives 107 years later. There was no recovery attempt for the bodies.

More information on the CS Mackay-Bennett, the ship that was sent out from Halifax for the grim task:

In answer to the OP question, I probably wouldn't have survived. I would have been crew, working my ass off somewhere.

I would eat all the cabbage and fart my way to land.

I would have drowned.
