The original 2 Halloween films are Slashers and I would most definitely consider them good cinema. Of course there is a bunch of schlock, that goes with anything that studios think they can make a quick buck over.

I've always been partial to Freddy Kruger's enhanced fingernails And, the original Nightmare on Elm Street with a very young Johnny Depp and John Saxon as the law officer is an outstanding example of slasher flicks
