US suicides hit an all-time high last year

About 49,500 people took their own lives last year in the U.S., the highest number ever, according to new government data posted Thursday.

Today was an especially sad day for me, the news hit our staff and mods with sadness and honestly left us speechless. I was bullied too as a kid and it was awful, back when I was a teenager there was no internet, message boards or even community centers to get help. I got beat up and picked on constantly, I attempted suicide when I was 18, but I realized that whatever problems I had in my life suicide was a permanent solution to a temporary problem and would honestly hurt the ones around me more. In this day and age you have many places you can turn to for help. I want to be a part and say: "It does get better!"

This information age I do see a new light and help is available. If you are under 18 check out http://www.emptyclosets.com.

I am actually thankful that you're still here on earth, continuing to live on and strive for the greater. Or else maybe Justusboys wouldn't have existed!

I too am in the same position where it's stress and depression that is causing me to lose faith in the world around, to feel like I am not worthy especially to those who say they care.
But I am grateful for the small amount of people, and no matter how anti-social or how much social anxiety I get, at least through messaging other people has helped me continue to strive even if it doesn't feel like it's better, it's a better day than the day before. <3
