Ignorant liberal politically correct idiot put down a whole race of people without knowing it

I didn't assume anything personally. I said that your phrasing was completely open to that misinterpretation, particularly depending on the context or to whom you were speaking, and that someone who heard you out of context, or does not know you, could very well react negatively to what sounds like you stereotyping people.

Unlike you, I did not make a post accusing you of being a racist. You did that to me, lol.

...So, at the end of the conversation, the woman said that funny that we met like this because someone told her I was "that". Looking puzzled, I asked her what she meant. She proceeded to quietly say "you know, that". You get the point.

(3) If anything, politically correct ignorant liberal idiots bother me just as much as the culturally insensitive idiot....

](*,) no words............

You should really go into politics.

Now I know just how much westerners look down on us Asians eating a lot of rice. You guys really think there is something wrong with it, even comparing it to the stereotype that black people like to eat fried chicken. By trying not to offend us, you show us that you look down on our way of life. Weather you like it or not, you sound exactly like the woman that avoided saying the word "gay" I was talking about earlier.

I think you have issues. You can't even read objective statements without assuming some sort of prejudice.

I read this whole thread and the general picture is that zombiekiller tripped on a certain bit on non-specificity in the English language and rather than see the problem is having a hissy fit over it.

So, most of you guys here are westerners, so this will be hard to adequately explain. But let me try.

(1) Yes, making a stereotype statement about a whole group of people is not a good idea. It tends to reflect lazy thinking.

However, considering ALL general statements as stereotypes is also lazy thinking. Why? Because not all general statements are stereotypes. Some don't necessarily apply to every single member of the group of people, but it's pretty damn close.

I agree with this. But is lazy thinking the worst problem in the world? Especially when you can overcome it by being more precise in your choice of words. In fact, if you know that others sometimes take things too literally because of their own limitations, does it reflect laziness on you if you let it happen instead of just being more exact in your statements?

My experience with many "liberals" is they are into "political correctness" --which generally speaking can be a bunch of bullshit---that's why I think progressive is a better word than liberal. The thing I have learned is nobody is perfect but you have to be able to distinguish who your real enemies are when you look into their heart.

"Political correctness" has been turned into some kind of Godzilla-sized demon monster primarily by the right.

It is invoked and mentioned as its own entity so often with no context that half the time I do not know what people even think it means when they bring it up and talk about how "bad" and "bullshit" it is. They could be saying absolutely anything from "I can't drop wildly racist slurs all the time without some idiot fag liberal getting his panties twisted" to "I got mad one time because someone told me I couldn't use a certain term for my own ethnic background."

There's stupidity everywhere-- but I have no idea what coherent set of rules or behaviors people think "political correctness" is when they all talk about it as a very bad thing and take great pains to distance themselves from it. And the vagueness itself is troubling because it conceals whether the reason someone wants to denounce it is legitimate or a veil for their loss of entitlement to be offensive and racist/sexist/whateverist in casual conversation.

Damn, now I want some rice.

Done this way....

^yes! now I know what project to work on with my cute little niece for Easter!, ty.

We used to have one here in town - not sure if it's still there. I miss the combination laundromat/ice cream parlor, though.

And yes, we still have the liquor store/gun shop.

It always makes me laugh when someone proudly declares how un-PC they are, because, LOL it's become terribly PC not to be PC.

Most people who say that have no idea what "PC" is anyway are are also usually operating with a definition of "Liberal" they got from Rush Limbaugh.

The primary way the far right has gotten as far as it has is by deluding people into thinking it's political definitions are actual definitions and not partisan propaganda. (ask me sometime why I think the left is partly to blame for this.)

Anyway and more to the point, the OP seems to me to be doing something we all do to one degree or another, and that is basically venting - not actually looking for a conversation.

For example if some knucklehead at work pisses me off - I might storm in here and say "What is the fucking problem with Ignorant, racist conservatives! They all act like they're selfish children! Will somebody please explain this to me!"

I don't really want an explanation.
