IKEA Furniture

I have one piece of their furniture, a chair, a sort of cross between a rocking chair and a bouncychair (ponang I think it is called)

I dislike going to their store as it is like a human habitrail. All those little arrows everywhere I can never get out of there...

We were discussing this the a few days ago at work. We all came to the conclusion that you furnish an apartment or rental home with Ikea furniture. But when you buy a home you buy more quality furniture. As for the house and kitchen wares, you can't beat Ikea. They have great prices on all the stuff you need to outfit your kitchen and bathroom, as well as the sheets, towls, etc...

And there's one reason Ikea owns: the plush elk.

I recently bought myself a new bed, and considered IKEA. In flipping through one of their catalogs, a few items caught my eye. When I went to check them out in person.....no way. They just seemed way too flimzy, not something that would last. In walking through the maze of a store (annoying) I did notice how many gay couples I saw. And, this was NOT in a gay area. It does seem to attract us.

For housewares, glasswear and the like, they are fine. I like some of that stuff, much of it is unique and what I think of as funky. But, I would never buy major furniture of any kind there.

:-)

IKEA has some good stuff like dishes, glasses, vases, ice cube trays.
Their furniture is colligiate, although I did once see a leather sectional that caught my eye.
Overall, I'd give them a 7 out of 10, it's no Domain, but it's better than K-Mart or Wal-Mart.

Yes.. when I was in college, I had IKEA everything.

Sure, it only lasted a year or two before falling apart, but without IKEA, I would have had either shit from the Salvation army or sat and slept on the floor.

My place looked great for a college student, was comfortable and functional and I was able to afford it.

So there.

There is nothing wrong with IKEA furniture for someone just starting out or in a vacation home. I've replaced a lot of the old furniture in my little lake house with IKEA pieces. It gets minimal wear since I only go out there on the weekends and I'm sure it will last for years. If you can afford better I would certainly not recommend anyone purchase most of the furniture IKEA sells for their primary residence, but there are some pieces that will hold up just as well as much more expensive furniture.

I have never been to hot for the furniture but the swedish meatballs there are to too yummy.

Well, I'd heard all of these great things about IKEA. Never went until a month ago. Don't care if I ever go back. The stuff looks nice if you have an eye that sort out the good stuff from the junk. It is just so cluttered in there and then there are so many people. I couldn't wait to get out. I got a decent chest of drawers which looks so much better in my room than in their "warehouse of junk".

I suppose for cheap, it's good. But right now I'm going with the sitting on the floor option b/c I don't want to waste money on furniture that will fall apart and don't have the funds for the good stuff. Nothing wrong with the floor... and my friends think it is hilarious.

I can't use IKEA furniture in my home. If I ever wanted to sell it, it would make it really difficult to sell. My realtor/accountant told me that one of the neighbors tried it and he said that the house does not show well because of it and it it taking a lot longer to sell.

I have old school IKEA hand me downs from my sister. 20+ years and still going.

But now that one has opened in Canton, all of us college students are throwing our money to the pluplies and slojdas and what not. I prefer to throw my money at their swedish meatballs and pink yogurt :D Yum.
