  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I'm babysitting two hyper eight year olds for the next 24 hours.

I don't get it. I had to baby sit two different pairs of brothers years ago, all four of which had ADHD. It just took a lot of repeating, and time, all of which I had plenty of.

Yeah, but you probably got them stoned first. That IS known to make them easier to deal with.

Personally, I prefer the high-speed trank darts. They're faster and work from a distance.

I just hate children. I can deal with babies. All they do is cry, puke, pee their pants, and sleep. It's like going to the bar with my friends.
Children though...it's just too much.

I have some recipes you could use...

But I don't think you could eat two eight-year-olds by 9 tomorrow.

Just give them horse anesthetics. They'll fall down in no time.

I had to babysit my autistic 9 year old cousin and my somewhat hyperactive 5 year old cousin a few times.

I don't find it that hard to entertain kids. Ask them what their favorite video to watch is and stick it in. That lasts for over an hour, maybe even more if its a series of TV shows that they love. You'd be suprised how long that can entertain kids.
Then, play lots of board games. Let them pick the games and let them make up the rules as they go along. Children love knowing that they're getting away with something, so it's better that that something is cheating rather than destruction of property.
You can also make up your own game. They had a one of those seesaws in the basement, and we made up some silly game. It wore them out because, again, they got to make up the rules as they went along, and it also wore them out since it was more physically active than the board games.

Basically, let them think that they are running the place by giving them specific things to do and letting their imaginations fly from there.

...or maybe my cousins were just better behaved than most other kids out there. I dunno.

Coloring works too, Magic Markers are the best! Or if there is a Chuck E. Cheese's near by, let the employees do the babysitting (happens to me at work all the time...I hate it! haha)
