  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I'm bored with men's fashion

If I can't find an article of clothing I like from the men's section, I do look in the women's section for clothing that can be unisex. I look for anything that a man can wear without appearing overly feminine. One would be surprised at what a man can find, shirts, jackets, pants, etc. I've received a lot of strange looks from people but I don't give a damn because I'm confident enough to rebel against conformity.

I love this!!!..|

I agree. It's very important that we know each other's measurements and silhouettes and, uh, you know, fashion stuff like that. ..|

Exactly! There's nothing wrong with that. We're merely being thorough.

Now, let's take our clothes off, shall we? :-)

Because I work in retail, beige khakis are a must. I think I own maybe one pair of jeans. But you can use a nice pair of jeans, if you like.

But what I like to do for shirts is the layered look (which is pretty much mandatory in the cooler/winter months anyway to keep warm). You can use any color of shirts you like, but I prefer blue (my favorite color). What I'll do is mix different tints/shades of blue. I'll have a light-blue/baby blue muscle shirt tucked in to my khakis, with a nice belt. I'll have a stronger blue (medium blue or cobalt blue) dressy short-sleeved shirt over it, untucked and unbuttoned. Or reverse the combination: darker blue undershirt with a lighter blue shirt over it. You can mix, match and have fun with it. And again, use fun colors that you personally like. Be bold!

Throw on a pair of shades to finish the look, optionally, and I'll admit, there's been a time or two when I've almost asked myself out. ;)

I hate the idea of "dressing up" because who am I really impressing?

Lately, I like to do the T-shirt and jeans thing.

I feel the same way! I always hated getting dressed up for work just to impress people I didn't care all that much about to begin with. I like a t-shirt and jeans, but I'd love to ramp it up when I go out especially to parties.

I love the second pic you posted bric-a-brac!

I'm loving all the different information and ideas I'm reading!

Each season male models strut down the runway wearing beautiful pieces that never make it to regular day-to-day wear. I wish society is much less conservative about what is acceptable for men to wear.

The green-eyed beauty in my avatar is the model Michael Gandolfi.

Here's a short video of him looking like a young Italian aristocrat running around in his estate's woods. Someone needs to catch him and wrestle him to the ground.

Why don't play with the accessories to get even? Like vests, hats, shades, chokers/necklaces, etc etc etc.

Good idea, freefall. I'm not really much of an accessories guy, but I can definitely see how it might help this situation.

More than once I seriously considered learning how to sew so I can just make my own shit.

I've been considering learning how to sew on a more advanced level. I can sew buttons on a shirt and sew up torn holes, but that's pretty much it.

If I could make my own clothes, it'd be amazing!

yes, women have more variety for clothes than us, but if you take a look for women' section sometimes you could find something that looks so unisex. so you can wear it too..

I shop in the womens section almost as often as I do in the mens. One reason being that they sometimes have more stylish and cool looking clothes.
The other reason is I mostly wear X-Small and not many clothing stores carry X-Small (for men, anyways).

I think scarves are underappreciated.

I love scarves. ..|

well I agree with the play with the accessories idea.. you could play with vest, shawl, scarf, belt but don't put too much accessories at the same time.
personally, mostly i'm wearing outer wear such as slouchy cardigans, summer cardigans, sheer top, vest, light and playful hoodie, and it helps to make me look better and not bland and plain.
basicly i love the slouchy and playful look, so sometimes i put oversize shirt and wear it in unorthodox way.

There are plenty of options for men, Its all about your creativity.
I love color, and wear tons of it. H&M is usually right on target with color, but the quality of their clothes is a bit underwhelming.
The whole key to the fashion thing is that it shouldnt be "forced"
A look should be comfortable and natural, and present you in your best light. Fads are not for everyone. you might need to tweak it to suit yourself. But never try to be something you are not. It will be painfully obvious to the observer, and make you look more foolish than stylish.

Plaid board shorts, printed t-shirts, ballcaps and sunglasses. It is the uniform of this summer, and the summer before this, and before that...

Can't go wrong with boardies; although proper boardies would never come in plaid...

well, personally I prefer the style of European male, they dressed up slightly better than the American (IMO), the British and Italian men are the best dressed men in the world. I love their style, edgy, stylish, chic and uber cool.

^I assume this precludes 95% of British men who favour the chav "trackies and a hoody with a cap" look.

No offence to the Non, obviously.
