Ok, so for the second time in 5 months my county was declared a disaster area. The first time was in July when a tornado went through my town, we were out of power for 10 days. This time it was ice. We were without power for about 70 hours and the temperature never got above freezing during that time.

IT SUCKED!!!!!

Around Thursday at noon it started sleeting, then about 5 pm that evening it started to do freezing rain. The freezing rain continued until about midnight, coating EVERYTHING with an ass load of ice. Abou 8 pm Thursday our electricity went off.

There were transformers exploding (5 that I witnessed) and trees falling (that's scary as hell not knowing if a tree is going to fall on your house and hearing them go down all around).

Anyway, during July during the power outage cooling centers were set up so people didn't die from the heat, well this go around warming centers were set up so people didn't freeze to death.

Yes, I heard that the mid US got hit hard by the storm! I was hoping that you were all right! It is no fun being with out power, you soon realize that everything you have needs electricity to work! Glad to hear you OK!!

i posted in that other thread saying hope you were ok...i can't imagine not having power for that long. 3 days...sheesh. i didn't even know it got that cold down there...

that just looks like a normal canadian winter.

At least, in northern ontario.

good lord man. FEMA needs to relocate everyone outta there...i think you should come here. you can bunk with my roommate.

i don't ever remember the power going out for more than ten minutes here...and we bitch like maniacs when it does.

FEMA isn't here at the moment but the National Guard is.​
 
Jake..get over it. We all have power now and everything is ok. We got through it...and you know I have a lot more to worry about when this kind of thing happens.

Also back in July it wasn't 10 days, only 4(granted, it was during a heatwave).

It was bad, but you are are overselling the drama just a bit. (I say this with much affection)
