I'm gay

Way to take all of the negativity and hatred in your life and turn it around on people in your own community. Actually, its people like YOU that are ruining the gay movement because you're so afraid to come out of the closet, you're so afraid of being regarded as different or effeminate, or even to be associated with such bad things, right?

People hate gay people because of their dumbass outdated religious beliefs and the generally homophobic cultures they were raised in. We get beat up in school for being cock sucking, fudgepacking faggots. Not because of drag queens. And yeah, maybe you should know the history of gay liberation before you go spouting off such nonsense. Same to the guy who said that we should be ashamed of things like Queer as Folk, which actually portrayed a wide range of queer life. Cowards...

Yeah it's stupid to think that he is the cause of people disliking us. i mean i have NEVER met someone who was like 'omg your gay which means you are like those outrageous guys in those gay parades' .....just no.

As everyone else has said, we should be THANKFUL for most of them showing themselves off to the world and fighting for the rest of.

I really am strongly against things like Gay Pride Parades, Perez Hilton, Queer As Folk ("Queer As Fuck") etc; I feel that those continue to give the entire gay movement a REALLY bad name, and most young gay people are scared to death to come out because they don't want to be compared to that. I prefer to believe that gay people - just like everyone else - are individuals who all have their own upbringing, feelings, beliefs and choices in life. I don't like people like the guy pictured in the OP, but I completely respect that they have the freedom to make an ass out of their selves in Gay Pride Parades. I just wish this vocal minority wouldn't speak for/represent ALL OF US in the media, and in society's general perception of us; We wouldn't have a black family in the White House today if it weren't for intelligent, respected role models like Martin Luther King and Bob Marley working very hard to bring dignity and unity to the black community. When will we get our modern-day "Martin Luther King"?

But y'know, I can't say all that stuff without having gay people get pissed off at me, so i'm not going to even bother going any further. You win, i'm wrong and stupid.

i kinda agree with you. while it's dangerous to paint the issue with such a broad stroke, i agree that there's a ton of gay men who perpetuate the stereotypes that we're trying so hard to get beyond.

pride parades are a great idea - but when they turn into thousands of men in their underwear (or less) using the event to hook up and blow each other on the street - it tends to take away from the meaning of the event and instead makes people disgusted by their actions and behavior (myself included).

so again, dangerous to apply the viewpoint to such a broad group (and especially judging by a photo) but there's definitely a kernel of truth in what you say.

The only way to do that is to be out and proud and let everyone know you're one of those "straight-acting" gays.

Pride is more than the parade. That's the show look around at all the people watching the "show" ... makes me very proud.

(((((peeks in, sees they're talking about gays, and walks back out))))

:help:

*wave*

For all those who are offended by the person depicted in the first photo, and are sick of them causing gay kids to get beat up in high school, and tired of them dominating gay culture...

...please google "g0y", and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Some of us are proud of homosexuals of all stripes. The weightlifter, the businessman AND the drag queen.

Lex

That guy looks FIERCE. Love it... I only WISH people around here knew such fabulosity...

I just can't get my head around this whole concept of somebody representing you and you are upset. Nobody represents me but me. I am responsible for my actions, the way I chose to dress, act, etc., nobody else.

The guy in the OP looks great and has nothing to do with how any other gay guy is treated. It's mostly politics and religion and insane parenthood that raises idiots to believe that all gay people are one way or another. We ought to all stand up for all gay people, not just the ones who look only like we wish they would look.

And I'm the reason homosexual kids get beat up in school.

and I was beat up in elementary school, and high school, and THAT man had nothing to do with it, and had far more courage than the cowards who randomly attack me.

People like that, have nothing to do with why people hate us. People just hate us, and hate is something that's learned. It's not a pride parade with a flamboyant participant that causes that hate.

he's merely ammunition, and fuel for that hate. Just like all of us are for those that despise us, and cause greivous harm to us because of WHO we ARE.

So fuck the bullshit, fuck the excuses. Get off your ass and represent yourself, but don't ever come down, and blame YOUR fucking problems, on people who aren't the cause of it.

Don't let the bastards that did that to you win, making you think it's because of you!

An *AMAZING* post from you, D !!!

:=D::=D::=D:

Exactly why am I going to go out of my way to judge someone for their appearance when we are all fighting for the same thing? I can't believe how ignorant some of these post have been in this thread.

I think most of you who are ashamed or offended are just cowards.
