I went to a store today to pick up 1 item. I was in the aisle looking for the item and some stupid jerk walked right up next to me and huffed . I’m a little guy and don’t take up much room (and there was plenty of room for him to walk around me) but I thought maybe I was in his way. So I moved several steps backward thinking he wanted an item in front of me. OH NO! He stomped right on through and went to the other end of the aisle to get whatever the hell he needed and came walking back and made sure to pause right in front of me as he walked back by. Anyway, I found what I needed and proceeded to the cashier. I was the only one at the register but of course someone came stomping up behind me and huffed (not the same huffer as before, it was a brand new muther huffer). He had a handfull of crap and seemed to be pissed that I was only purchasing 1 item. While the clerk was ringing up my one single solitary item, muther huffer kept creeping closer and closer until I thought he might climb over my shoulders to get to the cashier. I paid cash, so it’s not like he was waiting for my credit card to be approved! My whole transaction took about 30 seconds. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I don’t want a total stranger breathing down my neck while I’m opening my wallet and paying for something. And don’t get me started on the idiots driving through the parking lot at 90 miles per hour to get the spot closest to the door! Maybe I’m just getting older and more intolerant, but I really think people are in too much of a hurry to get nowhere. And it’s turning them into very rude, nasty, revolting people. Sorry for this rant. :grrr:

Rant away, if I were you I wouldn't have been as nice as you seem to have been. I think there is a society wide break down in manners going on that gets worse every year on all levels so I completely agree.

You were wearing Axe Body Spray, weren't you?

So why not stand up to these fuck wads? If someone had pulled that shit on me they would have heard about it. Next time say something. You'll feel alot better.

I can relate. Me at Kmart last week- I have two items and I'm in line at the "Express" :rotflmao: checkout

Lady in front of me has 30 cans of cat food. How do I know this, you may ask.

Because. I had 15 minutes to count them while waiting for the cashier to, incredibly slowly, scan every damn one individually and bag it, then the lady has coupons "somewhere" in her purse...

Your Kmart has an express checkout?

I just sent Kmart an email complaining about my local store only having 1 check out line open. 15 minutes to check out with socks and an itunes card.

They emailed me back and want my phone number so someone can speak to me in person. Sooo not gonna happen.

Those people that circle the parking lot looking for a spot close to door drive me crazy. They circle and circle, then when they finally park and get out they're huge. A little walk across the parking lot would do them a lot of good.

I agree I think people get ruder by the day.

You know, I really have to agree with that. Cell phones are not helping there either. It seems to give everyone license to be loud and rude in public.

Hey, it's all going to collapse one day. Just like the Roman empire, the Mayans, etc. It's cyclical. I think for the most part people want to be nice, but the every day grind of modern life is wearing us down.

One of those people that think cat food is 1 item regardless of the fact they have a hundred cans of it. I love it when I go to check out in a crowded store and there's only 1 lane open. Stand in line forever and wait. Then cash out and have the cashier say, "Have a good day." What the hell? I was taught to say thank you to the customer. There aren't any more Thank You's left I guess.

Audio Tech hit it absolutely right - it's cyclical and will end soon, but the everyday grind isn't wearing people down, it's speeding them up. Look around. People hurry to work, hurry to lunch, hurry home, hurry to the store, eat in a hurry, drink in a hurry, raise the kids in a hurry. Why? Unless they are late for something really important, there is no need to hurry. Slow down and live a little.

It's strange that there wasn't a 'repeat' button that could be pressed - whenever I buy multiple items, only one is scanned, the rest are inputted automatically, and it's much quicker. :)

I completely agree - I don't get this habit either - if I see plenty parking opportunites at the far away side, then I'm grateful for it - and it only takes the most minimum of effort to walk an incredibly short distance. ..|

You're upset that someone said, "have a good day" to you? If you're that nutty you have to realize some other nutty person could have been just as easily upset if the cashier had said "thank you" instead of "have a nice day."

I say take the cashier's advice and have a nice day, which means not imagining there are no thank yous left. If you're worried there are no thank yous left, you could have said it to the cashier--she was providing a service for you afterall.

OK, I was mean, now you need to laugh, hilarious cashier scenes from the good girl: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kj2ZXkaDvAI[/ame]

I know where you're coming from. I find that the older I get the more I want to strangle most people I come into contact with out in the public.

I don't have a problem with people telling me to have a nice day. That's fine, but it's these freaks who want to always say "have a blessed day". I was in a really foul mood while in a grocery store a few weeks back. It was the wrong day for one of these "blessed day" freaks to start up and when she did it I just looked at her and said "you don't give a rat's ass whether I have a blessed day or not so why do you even bother?" The idiot girl just stood there looking like a mental defective while I left. I was in the checkout line next to her a week or so later and I noticed she was not doing the blessed day crap anymore. I think maybe some others lit into her too or the management told her to cut it out.

hrumpf! now I'm pissed - again !!

it happens to me too - and i totally agree - people are assholes !!

in fact, i probably used to be one of them - but then i lost my job - and i have a whole new attitude on what's important.
maybe he was cruising you - and wanted to get really really close to you -- and that big bluge in your pants --
you shoudda said - get any closer and it's gonna cost you 100. bucks

but seriously - over the limit in the express line gets my blood boiling -
then they say - no - i'm splitting it up into TWO transactions - so I'm under the limit --bullshit !! then your led into a false sense of only 2 people in line - when each of them has two EXPRESS orders - so it's really a long line of FOUR !! --

AND THEN - they can't figure out how to process the credit/debit card -- or they want cash back or some nonsense --

and the store's really piss me off by NOT allowing cashiers to do multiples of the EXACT SAME ITEM by keying in x 6 -- Walmart is famous for this - - each item has to be scanned - even tho they can do x 6 they're not allowed to !!

BAH HUMBUG !!

Walmart is atrocious in most everything it does. Did you know that the store management of every Walmart in the world does not even have control over the heating or air conditioning in their own store? Nope, all that is done from corporate in Arkansas. I complained about how hot it was in a Walmart a couple months back and the lady said "we'll have to call Arkansas because they control the thermostat in every store".

Well, it's "express" in name only.

You should give them your phone number. I complained about a Best Buy and corporate called me and we had a very nice chat.

Where are the 10 items or less police when we need them?

They have that 'X' button at Wallyworld. I know they aren't supposed to do it for different varieties because of inventory but these were all the same and this girl was moving at a glacial pace.

Oddly enough, I slowed down and started living when I stopped working for other people. It's kinda nice!

A place like Mayberry sounds pretty good to me. Of course I'm a bit weird, so I'd fit right in at Eureka. ;)

Don't even get me started on Wal*Mart!! That company is pure evil and it will be the downfall of America.

That Arkansas bottom layer of Hell caters to the lowest common denominator. Those big brick boxes are populated by 400lb women with their hair tied into a little ponytail, leaning on their shopping cart with a cell phone stapled to their head. They act like they're the only one in the store, blocking aisles, stepping in front of you. Rude, loud, bossy. They decide they don't want an item so they just lay it down where ever they please, even frozen foods. They open a box of food to taste it. They rip open a box of tissues to feel how soft they are, and if they like it they put the damaged one back and take a fresh box.

If one if their illegitimate brats scratches himself, they go to health and beauty and open a box of bandages and put one on their little darling, tossing the box back on the shelf. If you say anything to them they get embarrassed and holler at you. I've caught these walking afterbirths shoplifting only to be met with hostility.

Wal*Mart builds these mammoth big box stores and refuses to staff them. The management's sole purpose is to rocket as much cash to Bentonville Arkansas as humanly possible., The end justifies the means. Cut payroll...... cut payroll...... is their battle cry. They send the overworked employees home so these soulless zombie management slaves to the Walton family can enhance themselves.

I refuse to go into a Wal*Mart store and haven't in years. A few years ago I was standing in a LONG line...... 30 register banks with only 4 registers open (gotta cut payroll) while there was a group of managers from Bentonville with their little clipboards talking amongst themselves how to get the employees to work faster to get these lines shorter. I walked over to them and told them to each jump on a register and stop wasting time telling other people how to do their jobs. They didn't like that.

Some days people can really suck, and not in the good way.

WAIT - there are still K-Mart's - ours disappeared years ago -- i thought they were all gone.

but - do call them back -- bitch a lot - tell them you have no reason to shop there again - for that kinda aggrevation and they will send you coupons or a gift card or sumthin !!

I did this with Body & Bathworks (I THINK that's their name) - I had to make a "toll" call to the corporate offices - no 800 number - but it was worth -it - i demanded to speak to the Director of Marketing and i got mega I'm sorries - and free gifts, coupons and a fancy bag - all worth way over $50.00 - and a very nice letter begging me to shop there -- I actually only go in there like twice a year - once around christmastime !!

The slowest employee is stationed at the "express" line. It's all about averages, as in the average # of customers coming through in an hour.

The faster employee in a regular line can handle a larger purchase in near the same amount of time. Imagine how long it would take the slow employee.
