So, in case you were wondering, Vancouver has all but shut down.

Almost every school is close, uncluding most universities and colleges. The Airport is pretty buch shut down. The Ferry Terminal is closed. Roads are closed. Accidents and downed trees are every where. 10000+ people are out of power. Bus accidents. It's been snowing for over 4 hours straight now.

Society is slowly collapsing in on itself here... so how are you?

Actually doing just fine. Weather here has been clear for about 3 weeks now and tonight the temperatures are plunging towards -40 F. It is now -36 F. Been running like this for over a week, earlier the temps were around -20 F. Day time temps have been about -30 F today and not much better than -25 F. Hoping to have a storm move in and get snow, would like to have another two feet or so, then the snow machine can run over a lot of things it can't now. Have but a foot now.

You seem to be robbing our storms. Hope all turns out ok for you. What I describe above is normal for us in the interior of Alaska, nothing terribly unusual. Just wish we would get more snow. Oh well.

It's unusually warm here. We should have the snow you're having right now. It was 13C today and its going to be 10C+ all week.

i was just reading about it.

one person has already died because of the weather .

stay home.

or better yet go outside and build a snowman...|

^Yeah, a snowman, with an enormous snow wiener and everything.

Might as well give the neighbours something to talk about, I reckon.

-d-
PS: Alternatively, you're welcome to crash at my place here in sunny Cape Town... assuming you can get here, of course, which is probably not so easy with the airport closed.

Oh dear, that's too bad!!! :( How am I? Couldn't be better!! Wanna know why? ....
just another typical day in paradise :p

I'm sitting on a beach overlooking the most stunning landscape in north eastern Australia, having some drinks with 5 Fratmen and my boss.

Spent most of the day hanging out on the beach, but we did go into town to flirt with the locals.

Thanks for asking.

Nice day in Cairns in Far North Queensland! (North-eastern Australia).... 31C max with 20C min and not a cloud in the sky. Got a little warm in the western part of the Queensland today - Birdsville hit 46C under the mango tree.

This just sucks, and not in the good way, we got clobbered all day and most of the night. I can feel the palm trees crying. I don't even like seeing snow in pictures.

We're at our "secret location" shooting Alumni Weekend 5: Australia.

Northern Australia is so beautiful I never wanna leave.

I feel for ya buddy. I used to live in the fridged northland too! However, I escaped. Now I live near the beach in sunny southwest Florida where it was about 80 yesterday. I will be thinking of ya as I sip a Mai Tai by the pool tanning today!!

Hang in there --it will melt!!

Schools are now closing by Municipality. (Including mine :)) Police have warned people to stay home today. I'm gonna clean my room.

By the way, holy shit I made a lot of spelling mistakes in my first post...

Our high today is supposed to be 79.

YAY FOR THE SOUTH!! I HATE HATE HATE cold weather!

*although, it is really weird when it's Christmas season and everyone is in shorts...

Snow days can be great! They always remind me of when I was a kid and we'd hear on the radio that schools were closed...we'd be so excited and get on our boots and jackets and play outside all day. Now...I still am happy when I get an unexpected day off where I can just sit home...make a pot of soup/chili, read a book, watch a movie, catch up on sleep...etc. They do kinda suck when you're not home and you have trouble getting there...and it also sucks that you have to shovel and scrape... but still it's a day off (yeah!).

We haven't had any signs of winter yet here in MN. Usually we've had something by now. All this means is that winter will drag out on the other end.

It's also time we had a good old fashioned shut-everything-down, can't-see-your-hand-in-front-of-your-face blizzards. Haven't had one in most of Minnesota in about 30 years.

Hello my snowy neighbor to the north. We actually got snow in Seattle too. Not to the extent that you did I'm sure. But all the crazy people are out driving in it this morning. Keep warm with a friend.

The world has come to a standstill here in Seattle. There are 70,000 people leaving the Seahawks game. There are people abandoning there cars on the side of the freeway. Reports are the commutes that normally take less than 30 minutes are taking over 2 hours. My boss at work has not had electricity for two days.
