I'm not sure I wanna live in a world where

Eh.

The Grammys have always been a joke.

And today's music is a joke, so it's not like Bee has much to compete with.

I only watch for the performances, any proper and appropriate winners are just pennies from heaven. It's all about the performances.

here are a few more reasons ..

Beyonce has 16 Grammys and Marley, Hendrix and Zepplin have, combined, none. :help:

Grammys haven't mattered since the 80's when they got it desperately wrong for rap, metal and country.

Those three probably wrote their own songs, certainly played their own instruments, and in life(and in two cases, death) have widespread appeal, reach and influence.

Fuck a Grammy. They don't seem to help peoples' careers any(with rare exceptions).

Kim Kardashian goes bowling? ](*,) My browser opens on msn.com by default, I'm too lazy to change it but it's always a race to quickly go to the page I'm looking for because I always see headlines like "Justin Bieber's new do" or "Tiger's Mistress Buys a New Pair of Panties."

I just don't know what to believe in anymore. :(

Hahah really? You think the Grammys are any indication of excellence in it's essence?

I've been studying music since third grade, as a kid I'd wait anxiously all year long to see who was gonna show up, who would perform, who would win. I mean, this was the GRAMMYS! The heighr of musical achievement. They give you a golden trophy and everything.

Every now and again they'd make the right choice so I hadn't written them off until I saw Beyonce perform and win year after year while so many other artists, ACTUAL artists, didn't even get invites. I just... I expected more from them.

If Adele doesn't win at least one for 21 I'm going to chain myself to a tree.

I am glad you said that. I have never understood her musical appeal.

Are you assuming musical success = musical appeal? Her appeal is that she's light-skinned and pretty and gyrates a lot. Her songs are forgettable. 20 years from now will anyone be covering Single Ladies or Check Up On It or her corniest track to date, Survivor? She's about as musical as a can of malt liquor. Speaking of, brb. Store run.

Not wishing to take away from Beyonce's voice, but generally it's just a sign of our time where superficiality now outranks superiority when it comes to talent and entertainment. There have been few truly 'international' stars over the last decade or two that have had such a groundbreaking impact as Marley, Hendrix and Zepplin etc.

It is an existential conundrum.

But this is a world where Jersey Shore will probably be respected and admired by the hoi polloi.

*keys Beyonce's car for Karen*
