Well, I finally did it. I'm 29 years old and I came out today. I've made a few new friends here who are gay and they convinced me to go to Pride in St. Louis yesterday. I had a great time and when I got home I decided it was finally time. The stress of not being out has been so intense lately. It's so nice to be rid of it. I dated a guy while I was not out for awhile... he was not out either. We eventually broke up because I knew I wanted to be out and since he's bi, he decided he wanted a wife and kids. We ended on good terms, though.
So today I've spent the day telling my sister and those friends who are close to me (the ones who I felt should hear it from me first). Every one of them was awesome about it. I have no idea when I'm going to tell my parents. I expect their reaction to be emotional but also expect that they should eventually be ok with it. I'm just glad I live ten hours away so I don't have to be in the middle of it, when I actually go through with it.
Anyway, I wanted to share my awesome day.
