I'm 24 so I was a part of the first real internet generation. From my teens the majority of porn that I found online showed a lot of "safe sex" and when it was finally my time to start having sex I felt like sex with condoms was the regular and normal thing to do. So I guess it was instilled in my head (from watching porn) that sex using condoms was the normal and accepted way for it to be done.

Over the past year or so I've notied less and less safe sex porn. What I've really been seeing a lot of now are sex scenes where the two guys are fucking, the top pulls out, shoots his load on the bottoms ass and back, and then sticks his dick back in and fucks a little more.

Now its not that I look at porn to uphold any moral authority, but I think the industry is setting a bad example. I notice now that people younger then me are honestly less concerned about STD's as a whole more then my generation of only a few years ago. Youngsters seem to have this pre concieved notion that since we all accept the beleife that HIV/AIDS is not likely spread through oral sex, that no STD's are. Now I feel that youngsters will start thinking that unprotected sex followed by "the pullout" is acceptible as well.

2006 is not 1996 where Safe Sex and the words HIV and AIDS are not part of every other sentance or every other TV commercial or billboard. The most we here about AIDS today is when U2 is giving a concert to raise money to stop AIDS in Africa. I can't even begin to stress how much safe sex was pushed down our throats in the 90's and its clear that this lesson is not longer being taught as agressivley to todays youth (at least here in the United States) as it once was such a short time ago.

Has anyone else noticed this porn trend? Do you think youngsters will get the wrong message.

No, I think that the demand for risky or 'natural' sex became greater, not that more people are having unprotected sex.

I think our generation still is worried about STDs, the problem is that they're not being educated as well as they were for our generation or a little bit older and we all know who we have to thank for that...

In fact, I would even go so far as to say that STDs are ingrained as a fact of life in our generation, though that may ironically make it seem less threatening...

I haven't noticed any more than usual.

I was chatting with ChiChi Larue in Phoenix a couple months ago, and she was telling me that she INSISTS on condoms being visible in every anal scene just for the reason you gave.. you grew up seeing it, so it was what hot men did as just a part of sex.

(keep that up... for my generation, it was harder.. we grew up without HIV, and although it was in full swing when I was 19 and sexually A C T I V E in Toronto, none of us used condoms because we thought HIV was only caught by older guys in San Francisco... the news kinda portrayed it that way)

I've noticed and am concerned. A friend got hep b and was in the hospital for a month.

He's going to live a healthy life from here on out, but it took a lot of his energy out of him, I think, not to mention a months worth of medical bills and inconvenience.

No, sorry, don't agree. The media, be it the news, movies, television, internet or PORN producers are not our babysitters. They in no way should be held responsible for preaching to anyone what everyone has been taught. I came out just before AIDS, before GRID, and personally I am sick and fucking tired of all the preaching that goes on about it. I have lost many, many friends to this disease and most caught it before the media gave a shit about the gay community.
If someone doesn't know by now that if you fuck without a condom you are putting your life at risk they will never get the message. If you are straight and fuck with out a condom you may get someone pregnant. If you drink and drive you could kill yourself and everyone else in your path. If you smoke you could catch cancer. If you use a cell phone you could get brain cancer. If you go boating w/out a life jacket you could drown. If you, if you, if you.

YOU AND ONLY YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE CLUBBED OVER THE HEAD REPEATEDLY TO GET THE FRIGGIN MESSAGE.

I have now got that rant off my chest...for today. This subject just pisses me off.

Yes, I have noticed more and more Barebacking and cum swallowing in Porn lately.

You are correct. Porn became very Safe-Sex visual from the late 1980s on. In fact, for those of us who prefer our porn raw and dirty, we'd have to buy older stuff that was pre-condom era. Alot of us figure if we can't do it in real life, we want the visual fantasy for watching porn and jerking off. I just figured these guys in the older porn were all dead now.

But then as you said, all the sudden there is a new trend in Barebacking videos. Cum swallowing too. I have seen some of these videos. I can only assume that all these young guys are HIV+ before they sign up to do this stuff.

Does it give the wrong message? Yes it does. If you go on Manhunt you'll see lots of Ads with young guys wanting bareback and to take as many loads as possible. Are these guys HIV+? Perhaps. If they aren't now, they will be soon.

I am NOT against these movies though. Porn is no different than any other film. Do guys run out and kill their neighbors after watching the latest chain saw murder movie? I don't think so.

BUT !! I do think all of these new Bareback type movies should start and end with a strong HIV/AIDS warning. Remind they buyer that these guys are HIV+ and will eventually not be able to have sex any more because of side effects of the anti-viral meds. Remind them that a few good years of unsafe sex isn't worth the risk.

Very good point. I second that!

We are getting more and more trained to make our life safe and easy by giving away decisions to so called 'authorities'. I think we really should get back our lifes in our hands and act more responsible instead of thinking that we will be safer the more laws and regulations we have. It will be the contrary. We will end up in hell!

As for porn, it's a business. And businesses need to make money. They only produce what the customers want. If you have the choice between not making money (or less) with safe sex and earning the big bucks with bareback, I doubt the majority would choose to be a saint and leave the money to the competition. But give it five years and we will have a law against unsafe sex in porn. Any bets?

I don't need porn to tell me how to be sexually responsible. If you do you probably shouldn't be having sex.

I believe people should practise safe sex in porn , i would hate to be an actor in a porn doing bareback and risking my health so a few people could get off on the fact that i could be given an std or worse!

All porn i have seen uses condoms, some even show the actors putting it on or opening the package.

I don't mind the barebacking in porn at all.. porn is made to turn us on, we watch it, get all hot and bothered, then usually jack off to it or fuck to it.. the demand for bareback sex is high in the porn industry, I know this because we own a store that sells DVD's, and the amount of people we have asking for it is many. yeah barebacking is unsafe, swallowing is unsafe, but just because they are doing it in the movie doesnt mean YOU have to do it.. the guys that are doing it in the movies, are doing it because THEY want to, not because they are being forced to do it, if your that influenced by porn, then maybe you shouldnt watch it.
I think alot of people miss seeing porn how it used to be, hot guys with hairy cocks having hot sweaty no hold bars sex, rather than manicured pretty boys with no pubic hair or no hair on their bodies at all for that matter, most of the DVD's I own are bareback movies, do I practice it? no, I just like to watch!

nobody is forcing these guys to have sex bud, they are doing it of their own accord, THEY choose to be in the porn industry, THEY choose to swallow, THEY choose to do it bareback.

the internet is full of information about being gay, gay sex, gay relationships, everything you need to know about being gay, the ups and downs and ins and outs can ALL be found here on the internet.

so what if some young guy comes here for advice, this is a forum FOR gay men, if he cant get some info and help here I don't know what to tell ya.

"I wonder how the woman who's complaint I read would feel if her son turns out to be gay and ends up in 10 years with HIV? I wonder who she will blame? Gay porn because there are bareback movies? The government maybe for not educating him.......or maybe herself for saying that she doesn't think that kids should learn about this stuff?"

why should the government be responsible for that? the government isn't responsible for teaching sex education, that should come from the parents themselves, and YES it should include talking about gay sex, and it should also come from yourself, educate yourself! there are libraries, the internet, doctors, gay men, plenty of places to educate yourself, in fact there are far more ways to educate yourself in this day and age as apposed to 25 years ago.

"Gay men are being let down when it comes to sex education so they have to resort to asking advice on gay websites." see above comment...

"It's also ok saying that because of AIDS some people like watching bareback rather than do it themselves but I think that attitude sucks. " why does that attitude suck? you should be glad that we are watching it and not participating in it, I take porn for what it is, an outlet to get off with...I don't bareback, and I don't swallow either, well other than my own..but I will always use a condom when fucking.

Im not trying to go off on you or your views, as harsh as they are, but it seems like your ranting and putting the blame on so many different things, when really its up to each of us to make ourselves responsible, aware, and safe...don't worry about "joe blow" worry about you-- when you have sex, make sure YOU ARE the one that asks your partner to put a rubber on, make sure YOU tell that person, what you are and arent into--if they don't want to abide by YOUR rules, then don't play.. its not worth it-- but leave the porn alone, porn is used as an outlet, and weather or not its barbacking porn, or not, its made for fantasy, and to simply help get us off.

How many threads have there been lately on here from young guys asking if it's ok to bareback, or is oral sex safe, can I catch this from doing that etc. Why are they coming here and asking our advice? Simple really schools are letting gay men down. When I was at school it was during the Clause 28 legislation so they couldn't 'promote' homosexuality. How the fuck do you promote homosexuality? Surely if you can have your sexuality changed by seeing two men kiss then there should be no gay people as TV and the media ram heterosexuality down our throats all day everyday......but Michael Howard in his wisdom introduced this legislation, so who was there to tell me about the dangers I faced if I didn't protect myself?

The government here is trying to get gay sex mentioned in sex education and what happens? The fucking church and dumb parents get up in arms. I wonder how the woman who's complaint I read would feel if her son turns out to be gay and ends up in 10 years with HIV? I wonder who she will blame? Gay porn because there are bareback movies? The government maybe for not educating him.......or maybe herself for saying that she doesn't think that kids should learn about this stuff? There are advert talking about STD's and using condoms on TV here at the moment. If you live in the UK have you seen one of them aimed at gays? NO!!! All the ones I've seen feature a man and woman making out in them. Why? Gay men are in the top risk group along people who share needles yet there is nothing aimed at us!

Gay men are being let down when it comes to sex education so they have to resort to asking advice on gay websites. It's also ok saying that because of AIDS some people like watching bareback rather than do it themselves but I think that attitude sucks. There are young guys who are being put at risk for you to watch it. Are they HIV+ before they do them? Not all. There are some movie companies who are exploiting young naive guys. They are offering them more money to do it and if they refuse they are plying them with drugs so they lose their inhibitions, just so you can get you fix of what it was like in the good old days before HIV. And another thing these guys are not just having sex with other porn stars. Look at the amount who have none porn star bf's. Mason Wyler, Brent Everett and Ashton Ryan have bf's who as far as I know aren't in the porn industry. If they are making bareback movies and more and more mainstream porn stars are, they are more at risk of catching it and passing it on to Joe Public. How many younger guys will have the balls to tell them to rubber up before they fuck them, or know enough about STD's to ask their status. Before yous have ago I know there are some switched on kids out there, but is there enough? Gaydar, Dudes Nude and Manhunt would suggest there isn't. There is a guy on the forums here who was going on about loving his bf, yet on another site he was trying to organise a condom optional sex party, so it makes you wonder.

Personally I hate bareback porn and won't buy it and I hate seeing the banners appear on the main screen here for Hot Studs and Do Me Bareback. But I can't afford to pay to have this ad-free plus I don't mind the other banners. Hot Studs btw has a movie that features a guy who is 19 and was diagnosed with HIV a couple of months ago. As far as I can tell he got fucked without a condom by around 6 guys in the two movies he made. Did he know the risks before he made them? Hot Desert Knights brag in the FAQ section of their website they don't ask the models.......that is the same as my boss dragging some guy off the street to work at my pool as a lifeguard only for someone to drown and he can't go into the pool because he can't swim. Do the company test the models before hiring them? And anyway we know that it can take 3 - 6 months sometimes longer before it shows in the bloodstream, so are they celibate before they are tested and do the films?

I think it's funny that a 24 year old calls people younger than him "youngsters."

You are still a baby yourself!

Safer sex advice campaigns should be like Disney films - re-circulated every 7 or so years so the next up and coming generation get the message.

I remember when the first big AIDS campaigns hit the screens in the mid eighties (and was pretty much scared out of any sort of sex) but guess what? There is a new generation of young gay guys out there who weren't even born then. The lack of decent sex education in schools (particularly in the UK and US where the God-botherers have too much of a say) together with the still all too prevelent taboo against gay people means that for a lot of people, porn is their main source of sex education, particularly if they are gay. If the safer sex message isn't being given to them through education or media campaigns and is not depicted in the porn they watch, there are bound to be those who remain ignorant when it comes to actually having sex.

Young people generally think they are indestructible and that it will never happen to them anyway so they will naturally take more risks in life - drink, drugs, extreme sports, driving too fast, shagging anything that moves.

Perversely, the newer HIV treatments available may also have an effect as people may see HIV as a manageable condition rather than a death sentence, almost like an accidental pregnancy, an inconvenience which you'd rather not have but you can work round it. I can't remember the last time I saw a news item about a celebrity dying of AIDS, only the scores of nameless Africans.

Having said all this, I admit to watching bb porn and enjoying it. I wouldn't do bb sex myself but I will happily watch. Maybe its the 'forbidden fruit' that appeals to me.

I realized that too and found it funny when I was writing it, I just couldn't think of a better thing to call those people a few years younger then me, but regardless a generation away. LoL I was just happy that it took untill the 17th post of the thread for soemone to point this out. (*8*)
