  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I'm quitting smoking.

I don't know about you but when my boyfriend quit, he took it easy for a few days and then thought about going back into his usual daily routine.

However, he had the presence of mind to realise that when work stressed him out, or he had a family argument or bad drivers on the road or whatever, he used to say "Okay, enough of this shit" and then he'd go for a smoke just to take a break or de-stress, etc. Knowing this he planned ahead for what he would do so that when life's annoyances would spring out at him, he was not taken by surprise and he knew what he was going to do instead of smoking. In his case it was going for a walk to a certain park and back (one near work, one near home.)

Anyhow, he said it helped him relax having planned that ahead so he wouldn't get caught off guard. Don't know if that kind of thing would work for you - my guy's a bit of a control freak that way planning things out - not exactly the king of spontaneity, lol - but it worked for him.

Congratulations on quitting. Keep it that way!
