I'm so fucking depressed

Anti-depressants don't add false happiness to your life. They help remove the overwhelming depression so that you can work on adding the happy yourself. And that's just what it is...work. You didn't get this way over night, and even an anti-depressant isn't going to just change everything about you. They exist to level you out so you can do the rest.

And here's something to think about that might help you just a tad with your father...he's a negative drunken bastard in your eyes? How do you think he got that way? Depression and anxiety often run in a family as inherited characteristics. I would suspect you and your father might not get along because of just how similar the two of you are. Give you another ten years of denying yourself the medical and psychological help you need, and we might find you to be a copy of your father. Or perhaps something even worse, since you at least are receiving some very good feedback about how you can take charge and begin changing your emotional state. Your father may have never had the resources available that you do now.

Asking for help is a major step, and you've taken it on here. Now take the next step off-line. You can do it. (*8*)

Even in the USA which is notorious for not having nationalized health care, you can find mental health clinics. Many of them are free county clinics. Call you local United Way or Salvation Army office. Tell them your problem. They can direct you to someone who can help. Yes, you must get help. You need help. No one who is well feels the way you do. Do you have a local indigent patient care hospital? If you do, go to the emergency room tomorrow and tell them you are suicidal. A doctor will see you. God loves you and so do I. Please, if you need someone to contact, send me an email. I've seen the best and the worst of life, but it is still worth fighting for and clinging to life every day.

Great advice Homoerectus.

Sometimes it takes a trip to the emergency room at the hospital to get the ball rolling. It may seem like a desperate act, but it sounds like you need help, STAT. Many communities here in the US have Mental Health emergency funding available to pay for your hospital stay so you can get help and get set up with a treatment plan.

Please don't be scared of medications for depression. I view them as life savers. Just because you start medication therapy doesn't mean that you will be on the drugs for the rest of your life.

Many of the guys here online know my battle and struggle with depression. They have helped me in so many ways that I can't even begin to express my thanks. My hope for you is that you find the courage and will to seek and ask for help.

If you need to talk, please PM me. I'll be checking up on you.

Jim

it sucks to feel that depressed. Try and simplify things. Work one day at a time and try and stay positive no matter what. If things suck, try and change them even if you begin with little changes

I wish you all the best and I don't believe that any situation is a lost cause. That doesn't mean that it's gonna be easy, but you are worth the struggle man.
