I'm so old I remember............?

The following school-related items
  • big plastic jars of white paste with an elephant on the label (I think it was JL Hammet's)
  • the custodian bringing the milk for snack down to our kindergarten room in crates (circa 1968 )
  • my Kindergarten teacher playing the piano
  • "Tip" "Tip & Mitten" "The Big Show" and "Jack and Janet" (thank you Houghton Mifflin readers!)
  • walking in a quiet line down the hallway
  • the principal filling in when a substitute teacher wasn't available
  • nap time!

^ :)

also from school (1st grade): a line of kids that mysteriously formed every day at my desk waiting for me to spell words for them! I found out years later the teacher was sending the kids to me for spelling; I guess it was her way of keeping me out of trouble!

RonBoy thanks for the memory of that white paste. :=D: We used to get it served to us on a 3x5 white card. I used to eat the stuff and thought it tasted pretty good back then. Maybe that is why i like the taste of my cum! LOL ;)

peace

I am so old I remmeber Paste I used to eat it anyways and I agree about the second part Valle12tom. Anyways, I remmeber the orginal power rangers, teenage mutant turtles. Those aren't that old. I remeber when I was young the Gulf War, and the reason I remmber it is because I saw Wolf Blitzern on TV and I thought he was a werewolf. It makes you wonder if he is.

Ouch!

I remember lots of long gone laundry products such as Bulldog Bluing,
La France powdered bluing, Oxydol, Rinso, Cold Power, 101 Bleach, and Sta-Puf Fabric Softener!

"Disco Duck" by Rick Dees on AM radio! I'm listening to the disco part of my MP3 collection, and that song just came on!

Lewyt Vacuum Cleaners (my parents had the same model pictured below left. They bought it used when they first got married in 1956. It's still in their garage today. Dad uses it to vacuum out his car.)

...bicycles with banana seats and sissy bars that were taller than the kid on the bike! And they had handlebars that made them look like little Harleys!

Bart Starr as QB of the Green Bay Packers (although I was a wee lad at the time!)

Shopping at Spencer Gifts in the mall thinking it was just about the coolest store around!

...seeing a little skeleton coin bank at Spencer's! You'd put a coin in and this little skeleton on top of the bank would get up, dance a jig, then lie back down again.

...that a monthly ticked for the whole* net of the public transport in Berlin cost 60 DEM (30 €). It is first ten years ago. Today it costs 64 €. :( :( :(

*underground, suburban rapid transit, bus, tramway, ferry.

When you could get a candy bar for a quarter and a pack of smokes for eighty cents and gas was only 69 cents a gallon.
getting cable TV when it first came out and it had a white box with a black bar. channels 1-13 on the first side and slide it over for 14 through 36 on the other side. Wow I am getting old! ;)

I remember that when HBO first started, they used to have "dead air" time between films with just a slide and background music as a sort of "intermission"

I didn't know Casey Casem was Shaggy. Makes sense, though.

Remember Dick Clark's "American Bandstand"?

We're goin' hoppin'.
We're goin' hoppin' today,
Where things are poppin',
The Philadelphia way.
We're gonna drop in,
On all the music they play,
On the Bandstand (Bandstand!)

We're goin' swingin'.
We're gonna swing in the crowd.
And we'll be clingin',
And floatin' high as a cloud.
The phones are ringin'.
My mom and dad are so proud,
I'm on Bandstand (Bandstand!).
