I'm back at my parent's house and am planning to move out again very soon. Sadly, with medical woes and a slowing job market, "very soon" keeps getting pushed back.

Not only is it normal, it's starting to get too damn common.

I think it's something that most people worry about it. Don't worry too much about jumping from Point A to Point B. If you have to work a lesser job for a while, or live in a less-than-ideal bachelor pad for awhile, that doesn't mean you've given up on your dream. It just may be a means to an end. Nothing wrong with going from Point A to Point C to Point X to Point W to Point B. That's how I did it - and I had a pretty good time along the way, too. :)

As someone a bit more...seasoned than you, I'll just say the future has a weird way of taking care of itself. :) You know what your next hurdles are (the makeup things) so just focus on that.

i do know a para legal is a job that is open in a lot of the country. almost changed my carrier recently and seriously looked at it. would you consider moving to another state? lots of cities in the middle of the country that have a lot to offer and you won't have to spend tons of money to do it. you can always move back to new york if you don't like it.

I am in kind of the same situation except I graduated two years ago...have worked low wage jobs (only ones that would hire me in this market) to support myself while paying my parents a low rent...now have a second job which takes away free time but I will finally be moving into my own place next month.:-) Stay in NYC, you have so many more job opportunities in a city that big, I have thought about going there myself if I could afford the cost of living until I find a job...

I would KILL to live in NYC. Literally, like, I would be a Hit Man.

I get wanting to dive in. I finished up college and lived with my dad and stepmom for a bit, then moved into a SHITTY "efficiency" apartment. By "efficiency" I mean a closet with a fridge and toilet. Worst decision ever...it made me miserable.

Be persistent. Opportunity doesn't knock, unfortunately...it sometimes hides under a pile of rocks in the middle of nowhere. But if you REALLY want to reach your goals, it will happen.

I don't know how old you are, but living with your parents in New York is kind of a regular thing from what I hear. That city be SPENDY. Yeah it cramps your style, but once you finish school and eventually land that job, it'll be worth it.

While I'm not as seasoned (nor wise) as you, I can attest to this. Things always seem to work out for the better. At the time it may seem like a defeat but a few months later, the upside is so up, you wouldn't have switched it for the world.

I would never want to relive my 20's again. Too much stress. Too much drama. Too much self-doubt. Thirties is when life really starts getting good. I'm hoping 40s are even better when I hit them in a few years.

...that I won't be able to find the job I want and will be stuck in my parent's place all year :( and never be able to move into my dream bachelor pad

Is that normal? except for the last part of course. Like it makes me very worried.

There is productive worry, I call it concern, and unproductive worry which leads to stress upon stress.......
Be concerned about the things YOU can control........worrying too much makes only psychiatrists and other mental health professionals rich....... #-o

I have to add that LOOKS go a long way in the business world........I think you're going to do well....... ;)

I've been sleeping on the floor for the last year while in school.. I'm trying to move out and find a job myself but school hours and studying just will not allow it..my unemployment is about to stop next week, my car is about to be hunted down by the repo man..and I have this annoying ass algebra class that I'm trying to pass..life is a bitch but if you stay positive and work at it you'll make it...I'm studying 6 hours a day just to pass this hurdle..Hang in there man...we're all in a bind

Damn...and here I thought it was just myself.

I've been at my parents for over 2 years now and I've been out of work since October of last year. I would have been in Milwaukee by now but just a week before I was going to go, my grandfather's health took another turn for the worse. His health is deteriorating from old age and now I take care of him until hopefully other arrangements can be made. I don't really mind it since I can stay home and my parents pay me but, I was looking forward to spending the summer by Lake Michigan while zipping back and forth to Chicago periodically :(

Chin-up lucky. Hopefully it will be better soon enough for us all back with momma and poppa..|
