I'm The Last Gay Guy To FINALLY See Brokeback Mountain

I didn't even finish watching it.

The cinematography was pretty good.

But ultimately I felt like I had a one way ticket to Yawnsville.

I've mentioned this before, but the part that really made us laugh was their first fuck. I mean, a virgin butt and a hard cock with only spit for lube and no foreplay:eek: .....I don't think so. With all those sheep, they should have had some lanolin on hand, right? :p I remember my first time...that's all I can say. #-o

If not lanolin, maybe Bag Balm?

Maybe the butt wasn't a virgin butt ... I think Jack wasn't a stranger to such things.

Having said that, I saw the movie in a theatre twice (both indy film theatres, in different cities). The second time was on New Year's Day evening and there were only a few others in the theatre: a few gay guys right behind me (no jokes about "yeah, that's exactly how you like it"! :-) ), and two girls. There was an involuntary gasp from the guys during that scene. Yeah, us boys all knew how much that would hurt.

I think Annie Proulx wrote it that way deliberately, to show their love was taking them off guard and by surprise. It was something that just happened before either of them was even aware of it, it was raw and elemental, it came upon them (so to speak -- har har) like a ton of bricks, it was bigger than they were. They were both rough and raw rednecks and would hardly have known how to be gentle with each other in a drunken fit of lust and love.

At any rate, I still think Brokeback is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It does move a little slow, but it's not an action adventure. It's a variation on the greatest love story ever told, Romeo and Juliet, and it's well-told and well-developed. It tells my story of love, of only having ever had the "wrong" kind of love, and all of my affairs being unrequited and heartbreaking.

Yeah, in the story, they state that even though Jack says he's never done it before, he definitely had been on some rides before as the horse. (I don't know where I just pulled that awful metaphor from...)

We could probably assume that they were sweaty, that Ennis had some precum, a little spit and that Jack was receptive and relaxed. ::shrug:: But those are all big 'ifs'.

I think what Ennis said was...

"Time to hit the hay, cowboy. I got a go. Come on, you're sleepin' on your feet like a horse,"

The whole scene in that story is my favorite.

The screenplay was AMAZING! So was Heath Ledger.

I thought I was gonna get bored but surprisingly enough, I didn't. And damn it if I didn't cry at the end. The final shot of the closet and the huge open field outside the window was so beautiful. It also reminded us of how Ennis' life is and how the rest of his life is going to be. That's the genius of the movie though. Things that weren't said spoke more than anything else. I give credit to Ang Lee and the actors. :=D:

Thanks for the link, it really cleared up a lot of things.

In the short story, Ennis realizes that it's more likely Jack was beaten to death rather than a tire accident.

This isn't stated but Maybe people beat him, left him to bleed to death and made up the story to his wife and family. Or maybe the wife made up the story so other people don't have to go through the pain of knowing how Jack died.

Apparently Jack's wife made up that story. You can tell it from Anne's facial espression on the phone. They knew what caused Jack's death and the reason was too "horrible" for people to know.

Well, I haven't seen it yet! I'll probably catch it when it airs on TV.
