I'm the only Kiwi that sticks around ...

I saw this on the news today and thought of this thread!

Ahead of the Rugby World Cup which starts in England this Friday, Jonah Lomu leads the Kiwis in a traditional haka at London's Covent Garden.

Haka in the performance arts and theater is ok but in sporting event is embarrassing.
In the video a blond kiwi at the back she looked embarrassed and didn't sing the haka

The most over-the-top haka was this one I saw posted on JUB a while back.

Was it you who posted this once Telstra? I'm sure it was you.

Australia v New Zealand under-20 teams. I blame too much hormones and testosterone. :p

Yes it was me and i did say i was embarrassed by the childish behaviour.
In real life, the parents would get a cane and smack them to be quiet.

My heart goes out to the poor old Queen who has to endure hours of that sort of thing when she visits Commonwealth countries. Then again, she seems to enjoy Trooping the Colour which is not dissimilar.

Owain went to study rocks in New Zealand for a year, no ones heard from him since.

That's part of her success. She smiles regardless.

Probably caught between a rock and a hard place :)

What y'all think of our possible new flag. Heaps of controversy here at the moment.

We are having a referendum soon to find out which is the most favoured from these 4 for a possible new flag :

Then another referendum will be held in March 1016 where the winner will go up against our current flag :

What's wrong with the current flag? ;) The one on the bottom left is pretty cool ..|

Oh yeah, I'm glad you're still around, JAG

I think he's Kiwi. Is he still around?

Alas, the Advanced Search utility suggests it is no longer a valid username. If we can trust that search, and it has been notoriously wonky, then he's gone.

Makes sense to finally get rid of our flag off of your own. The process for selecting the new flag seems to have been a massive pile of shit though.

The Silver Fern makes sense to become the flag, even if it will just make me think of rugby every time. I also like the four stars thing, so they should stay. Therefore I would probably go for the bottom left one.

Fun with flags again. Those old-fashioned colonial flags with the Union Jack in the corner look a bit quaint these days. But the new designs look like cushion covers, except the last one which makes me think of a cup of coffee.

As flags pretty much evolved from military standards, it will take some time to re-orient our minds to appreciate them as nationalistic expressions not based on militarism.

New Zealand is poised to become a leader in that evolution. It will be interesting to see if a real trend develops, or if this is simply an aberration on the planet.

...................... But the new designs look like cushion covers..........................

I was thinking more along the lines of them looking like Hermes scarves. I would have to be forced into choosing one as I like none of them.
