Beg to differ.

That's the argument a lot of closet cases (especially black gays), the far right and religious community throws around like rice at a wedding.

To my protest my roommate turned our cable back on after (at least) a year without. You know how it is when you get cable back, you're so fascinated by the cornucopia of channels that you watch anything and everything.

So as I've been enjoying the different programs this past week (it'll probably be another month before I grow bored and decide "there's never anything to watch) I realize just whose sexuality is actually being forced, crammed, shoveled down whose throat.

And it ain't homosexuality.

In one hour of programming between the shows and commercials, all I see is heterosex, heterosex, heterosex, heterosex and.....MORE heterosex.

Discreet and overtly suggestive commercials; sexy fast food commercials, tv shows where the entire premise is a bunch of hot guys pursuing a bunch of hot girls. There's a local Pull-A-Part (a junkyard where you can buy used parts from lemons) that features a blonde bombshell slinking around the lot with narrations like "Need something hard and smooth? Kickin' and bumpin'? Looking for a nice set of headlights?"

Even shows geared towards teenagers are nothing more than soft-core porn. Sexy teens arguing, spending their parents money, and lusting after one another.

Even burger commercials aren't complete without simulating oral sex.

If you watch TV, pay close attention to the programming and even the commercials and you'll realize just how much heterosexuality is "crammed down our throats." Who do they think they are?

we're in the minority, homos just aren't on the mind of the scriptwriters, marketers and advertisers of this world.

True, this isn't a surprise, I guess it just caught me off guard since I haven't really watched tv in so long. I also realized interracial couples are almost non-existent in tv shows, movies and commercials. I don't think I've ever seen a mixed couple with an Asian and black-white or black-hispanic/latin couples are rare.

-exasperated sigh-

Don't the majority of those ads feature half nekkid women? I've never really paid attn to this issue before, but I'm not so sure that it's an issue of heterosex, as much as it is a male dominated society. Straight males outnumber gay males, thus we have commercials w/ dear Padma molesting a hamburger, instead of Anderson Cooper licking the BBQ sauce off his fingers.

It's the same thing w/ mainstream movies. The women are nekkid, the men aren't. We're lucky to get a nekkid ass shot, let alone see full frontal nudity.

True, good point.

By the way... :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: @ "molesting a hamburger."

it's kind of like when a show ends up having a gay recurring but very minor supporting character (who is usually non-sexual), then a lot of the straighties start screaming, "why do ALL the shows have gay characters!? why are they forcing all this gay sex onto us!? grey's anatomy isn't even about sex so why are they putting it in!!!?"

homosexuality isn't being thrown into their face. they have just become so used to the constant barrage of heterosexuality being crammed down their throat that whatever stands out from the pack has become completely noticeable.

that's right honey, let it aaaaaaaaaaaall out..

I don't hide anything in public, if I want to hold someones hand or kiss in public I will. Had a guy say something to me once about kissing a guy. I told if I have to watch him kiss his girlfriend, he can watch me kiss my boyfriend.

But if you so much as give your boyfriend a quick peck on the cheek at the mall it's "There's children around here assholes, how am I supposed to explain this to my daughter?" ROFLMAO!

Ummm, when it's two guys showing affection for each other, people freak out. However, when it's two girls, the straight fellas seem turned on, and no one else seems to care. I've always wondered why.

There was a program about this interesting tidbit on Primetime or 60 Minutes (can't really remember the name). The show monitored a lesbian couple and a gay couple kissing in public to capture the onlookers' reactions. The differences in opinions and facial expressions were amazing! I find it very odd.

They've done a few of those, they did it with girls at the airport and, as you say, none of the fellas minded but a passing mother (with child) heckled them about it.
