Three episodes in and I'm lost:

-no one talks like this, random "what's the meaning of my life?" conversations on the bathroom floor
-every 3 seconds someone is having an intense existential crisis that has to be dissected and analyzed to the nth degree
-please stop letting non-black people write black characters. just. stop.
-thankyou GREYS ANATOMY for convincing the audience that actors staring off into the distance while folksy acoustic indie music plays in the background is how you do emotions on tv

I want to like Mandy Moore soooooo bad but the writers didn't give her anything to work with. Same with Sterling K Brown and Chrissy Metz. When A+ talent gets D- material. ](*,)

before I write this off as nonsense, are there people who actually live like this, where every waking conversation has them on the verge of tears mulling their innermonst thoughts and exorcising personal demons, like, 24/7? Is that a real thing?

Never watched it. I did have the "where is my life headed" conversation with myself at sometime, but not with others.

I watched a lot of the show when it was on - but finally gave up because NOTHING good ever happened. It was supposed to be inspiring but got to be more depressing.

Yeah I made it 6 episodes on before giving up. And then The Lord showed me a sign, seeing Ayo Edibiri in Bottoms (HIGH-LARIOUS) guest starring on Abbott Elementary led me to wanting to see more of her so I'm getting into Big Mouth and The Bear. She's got the Midas touch cuz everything she's in is gold. I'm only working 2 days a week now so I need lots of boob tube to fill in these massive gaps of down time.

I've never had one of these "Where is my life headed?

Nope. Never had that convo. Beyond looking for a nicer apartment or house to live in. It's always "just worked for good enough" somehow. I don't get the folks that talk on and on enough that it turns into whining.

You have a shitty car? Fix that problem. Fix the car or replace it. How about learning how to fix your car? And onward for almost everything else.

Are you kidding? My 16yo daughter does this every day.

Going from This Is Us to The Bear is like a total 180. The dialogue on this show is waaaaaay more realistic, and that's not just me being a biased Chicagoan since the show is set in the Windy City. :gogirl:

What sort of adult life awaits her?

With the [rapidly deteriorating] world as it is today, would you want to be 16 --- just starting out?
