I've got an iMac and play DVD's either via Front Row or DVD Player. But I can't see how to change the settings to watch the DVD's on full screen. Everything plays in Letterbox format. :( Can anyone help me?

The Lord Of The Rings is pretty average when when you can't make out the Orks from the Hobbits. ;)

Thanks a lot.

ctrl + f would be fullscreen at least in quicktime.
but i believe you want a "pan scan" with no black bars anywhere? is your screen in the correct format for that? also .. is it a real dvd or some downloaded movie? some of those downloaded movies have the black bars IN the video ..

DVD Player, top menu bar, go to view, then select full screen
I never did like Front Row because if I remember it choose the resolution.
Have you tried VLC ? top menu bar, go to video, then select full screen

Unfortunately, selecting Full screen still leaves it at letterbox. It's a legitimate DVD, not a Bali copy (funnily enough a couple of Bali DVD's did play on full screen which is intriguing)

What's VLC?

In DVD Player, Press Command-K to open the Video Zoom menu. (Or click on Window/Video Zoom).

Turn on Zoom and then play with the presets, or use the manual sliders. DVD Player will remember individual settings for each DVD you play, so it will play them the same way each time you play that disc.
