Like John Lennon said..."imagine there's no countries"..."and the world will live as one".

Imagining it is the first step for it to become true. I believe it can be done IF certain changes happen in the world...we shall see...it depends on weither we learn from our mistakes or not eventually.

The world was born with no borders, and human beings were born with no countries.

When I went to a US consulate in Shenyang for my visa interview, I was thinking that according to the American belief of freedom, I don't need to ask for anyone's permission to go somewhere, because I was born on Earth, the whole planet is my hometown.

Oh please...as history has proven countless times before, tyranny and dictatorship ALWAYS fall eventually. This wouldn't make it worse nor better on that respect...it would still be the same shit if that were to happen.

Look at all of these science fiction movies with the aliens. 90% Of the time, these aliens are all under one rule, and not usually separated by countries, nations, etc.

On the realism side, it will never happen. There is too much animosity, too many differential ideas, and way too much 'pseudo politics' within the human race for us to unite as one.

The only way, THE ONLY WAY, to achieve a united world is world domination through war, and even then, it will never be truly united.

You're too quick to assume I'm not and that I'm some right winged bimbo. I prize freedom and diversity above all. I was kinda playing the devil's advocate part and just questioning everything. I don't really consider myself an anarchist since I believe the concept of anarchy is a falacy in the sense that it's just another form of order in the end. I'm all for freedom and protection of the people.

But in the end, it all turns back to the same...nothing's perfect, never was, never will be. We can try to make things better but to an utopic degree? I don't think so. One can also interpret borders here as the borders we establish in our own minds. Being more globally conscious is healthy and that's probably the best we can get...so, in the end, it doesn't matter if "physical" and official borders exist...as long as we allow our minds to stay opened, that's what, ultimately, matters.

I think this thread means more attention to borders, even if the existence of countries is necessary, borders should just be invisible lines that tell people where they are, not barriers that prevent people from travelling with no harm.

That has already worked very well in Europe, and I believe it's gonna work in the whole world.
