Impressions from attending a mosque for the first time

^I'm not blind to prejudice in all its colours, and persuasions for human frailty manifests ignorance in truck loads as we gays experience.

We had a Saudi client who was not allowed to do anything without her husband's permission...

Pat Grimshaw in a mosque ?

Pat Islam like Christianity and Judaism has many ways too believe.

hate is never good.

My interactions with Muslim men have informed me that Muslim women have much more influence on men than appearances might suggest...never be persuaded by appearances...reminding me of Irish wisdom....when the man of the house, clearly states he is the head of the family, for his wife permits him....never, underestimate the power behind the throne.

You're going to protect a society and religion that has women killed for not covering their bodies?

There are many faces and facets of Islam.

Dull summaries aren't convincing.

The defensiveness from the liberal side appears to be reactionary.

Muslims are relatively oppressed in the US, culturally anyway, and it drives the religious right nuts to see people supporting them.

It is entirely too easy to dismiss the group of people we disagree with, be it caused by politics, religion, sexuality, whatever.

There will always be some excuse to conjure when casting about to find a justification for our bigotry. Touring an empty cathedral or mosque does nothing to expose one to the experience of beholding a ritual. That is the appeal of Life or The National Geographic -- the photography that places the viewer in the midst of an action, be it a leopard seizing prey, a boy learning to break a horse, or a throng circling the Kaaba. When one stands there in person, the sounds and total exposure far exceed the mere photograph.

I don't buy the argument that Islam is so egregious that it's sins are unforgivable moreso than a state's. The UK and the US and every other country are guilty of atrocities, many of them ongoing as state policy or covert strategy. Yet, I don't hear anyone saying, "I'd never enter Congress or Parliament until they stop torturing detainees."

There must be an intentional intersection of the cultures that collide, and Christianity and Islam constitute major segments of the modern world. I can find no justification for sitting back and waiting for the world to heal itself -- it won't. We have to be the change.

The more comedians make fun of these Abraham religions the better, until they are harmless, no matter how you offend the faith.
Example, remember the cross in urine art? It was uproar in those times but now it is non news if someone do it again.

I find it incredible that people in JUB, who Muslims want to kill, usually go all out to defend Muslims while condemning Christians at the same time.

It makes no sense.

Agreed, I will admit certain positions in American liberalism are not rational, and general defense of Islam is one of them. The anti-GMO, anti-Israel, and anti-energy movements are among them as well.

I'm almost sure that's Masjid al Haram in Mecca.

Millions of people pour into that mosque during the Hajj, and I do mean into.

Oh damn your right, maybe it was one of the most beautiful or largest in UAE..... it was huge a million I could not even fathom yet the Masjid al Haram seats or rather kneels 4 million.... Holy Moly

Yeah. It's 88 acres of space. It would be tight but you could get kneeling space for four million in there.

The gleaming white Sheikh Zayed Mosque is quite a beat itself as well.

Muslims treat women the same way in the USA and other western countries. It's not a religion or a way of life to be admired or ignored.

This ought to scare the ever living fuck out of you BUTTTTTT

All of the places we have ever invaded or fought at in this world have left an indelible impression upon America. The culutres fought against, without fail have been brought back to the US and assimilated. So will maybe varieties of Afghanis and Iaqis. Best get used to it.

Look see how peaceful these Abrahamic religions today you bigger bigot !!
