In at least 40 states, Republicans have introduced laws that would make voting more d

To get the documentation required can cost people hundreds or thousands in legal fees, and for a lot of elderly folks it's not possible even then. When a birth certificate is absolutely required, but you never had one, you're screwed unless you can find newspaper announcements plus other sources that confirm them, foremost being a statement form the attending physician -- who, when you're elderly, isn't around to do that.

And t can cost hundreds in other expenses as well, trying to find the right documents by mail.

And even with a birth certificate, the homeless are screwed because they don't have a physical address.

There is a lot of will to obtain that ID, but it's utterly impractical or even impossible for many people.

Besides that, a lot of university students will just be locked out: their home state may disqualify them as a voter because they're not there six months out of the year, and the place they go to college won't register them if they live in a dorm....

.

Their home of record is where ever they originated from. Please show me the state laws that indicate while you are in college you are disenfranchised from your home state.

18 dollars gets you your birth certificate. had to order it for my Mother to make her name appear correctly because some idiot in 1956 thought Lavonne was a black name and changed her name to Yvonne. Probate court cost 40 bucks to alter her name.

So you are correct it cost 58 dollars for her to get a proper Ohio License.

And I am sure there are folks with no birth certificate but how many? I mean people really existed their entire lives with no identifiable attributes? That in itself is astonishing to me. I suppose if you were born in the woods, live in the woods, never cash checks, never use a debit or credit card.

Seems to me you don't understand what I said.

One legal person, one legal vote.

Then you should be opposing these laws, because the greater effect is taking votes away from citizens. Voter fraud is rare; these laws address a problem that doesn't exist.

The rule is "innocent until proven guilty". Everyone with any reasonable way to show they're a citizen must be presumed to be such unless proof can be offered otherwise.
