I kinda wanted to do something to do with this day, but, it's a little too serious for my tastes(in avatars, at least).

Instead, I phoned my military friends and said hey and thank you, so i've commemerated(is that a word?) in my own, private way.

I do like the avy's though. :)

Just put it on ignore, nothing to see here and nothing to talk about other than the avatars and the commemoration of this date.
 
I was actually in my American History class when it happened(first class of the day) - a teacher from across the hall told us to turn on CNN because a plane just struck the WTC... we watched thinking it was a tragic accident, until we saw the second plane hit, live.

That part of the school has never been so silent, and just about ever class took a back seat to what was happening that day.
 
I was getting ready for school when it happened. I was only ten years old. I remember my mom was downstairs in the kitchen making breakfast and I was in her room watching the Spanish news channel and I hear the lady talking about a plane crashing into the WTC. I see it happening live and I scream to my mom downstairs that a plane had just hit a building. I don't remember the school day, but I remember watching more videos on the news of the tragedy at home.

I didn't understand it much back then, though.

An avatar is still a photo, and that particular photo that I posted could be used as an avatar.

I didn't think it was in bad taste. A bit lighthearted (which is how I saw it), but not bad taste.

Did you read the thread's topic? It's about 9/11 avatars. Currently your avatar is a different kind of disaster.

I don't see anyone with that cake as a display pic or in their siggie.

I can't think of anyone being be so low and tactless as to use your cake as an avatar picture. No wait, I am wrong. You might use it.

Thanks, guy. I thought I'd go for simplicity. The commemorative New Yorker cover from ten years ago was just completely black. No more need have been presented. :(

You didn't focus on the topic. It wasn't about any old pic that could be used as an avatar. It was about the avatars that Jubbers had chosen.

You made it about you. And the blackness and malice that you apparently need to express.

And you deserve all the contempt and derision that comes your way for this.
