In life, what haven't you done yet?

Have you accomplished everything you set out to do?

Or are you still laying the groundwork so that later on you can get them done?

Life is way too short, the year is almost done, can you believe believe it.

Time waits for no man no matter how hot he is, so lets all make try and make hay while the sun still shines :D

What havent I done yet.
I havent been an astronaut, a policeman, or a fireman. My brothers a cop so I am not too worried about that one. I havent been to NY, or back to alaska ( I was born there but never went back), nor have I been abroad. I have done most everything else that I really wanted to do. I once had a friend tell me that if I had done everything I said I'd done, I would have to be 90 yrs old. lol. Thing is, I have always felt that my purpose in life was to do everything. I am always going from one project/place to another. I learn quickly and get bored easily. I rebel from the "comfort zone".

How about you?

I think the only thing I ever set out to accomplish and have actually accomplished is to attain my degrees. The rest is a work in progress. But I don't feel rushed... people in my family live to be very old. And even if I leave a few things off my resume, I'll still have had fun getting to the end.

However, I would like to accomplish the following things before I die:
  1. Finish my novel (instead of abandoning it near the end and starting a new one).
  2. Develop and use (for at least a year) a storage system that accomodates all of my stuff.
  3. Read Remembrance of Things Past.
  4. See the 100 Classic Movies (can you believe I've never seen Casablanca all the way through?)
  5. Hear the words "I Love You" from a man (and have him actually mean it).

I've never seen Casablanca too.

But what I really like - is to watch a falling star. I have never. Sigh.. I bet it is beautiful.

It is easier to list the things done in life than those that haven't been done. I have accomplished everything I have set out to do and become a bit of a success in what I have chosen as a life profession. The adventure I find myself in now is establishing another goal(s) and at this time make it in the area of really contributing to the human condition in such a manner that I understand more of myself and others. It is also learning the small things that make everything else worthwhile. As a result, life is far more interesting.

I still ain't been to Australia, my grand-father was born there so I'd love to go and travel around the country...

I have certainly had a very good life and it is full of experiences. I have been a journalist, a police officer, a fire fighter, a fire chief, a director of public safety, a city manager. I have operated my own business (a bakery) for a period of time and I am now involved with education and training at a national level for a group.

The experiences have allowed me to travel extensively and I continue to do so. I have raised two kids; raised two step kids... so life has been very good.

I have not been to my grandfather's homeland...Poland (which I would like to do along with another country in eastern Europe!). Aside from that I have been blessed and I am open to all things new (and old!)

There is quite a bit I'd like to see before I die, not sure that qualifies as accomlishing every thing I set out to do. I am fairly satisfied with my life right now, so not much else I need to get accomlished. I have some goals and a few things I need to accuire here real soon. But I take each day as it comes.

If you loose the desire to do something you haven't done yet, you are slowly dying. It is the essential spirit of life to have "something to look forward to" and if you loose curiosity and interest in doing something new, what makes you stand up in the morning ?

Let me see now.... I have been loved, passionately. I have loved, passionately. I have had my heart broken.

I personally think that I have done the most important things a person on this earth can do. Everything else is just fluff and filler.

The Musical: "Peter Pan"

Song: I WON'T GROW UP

PETER PAN:

Are you ready for today's lesson?

ALL:
Yes, Peter!

PETER PAN:

Listen to your teacher. Repeat after me:
I won't grow up,
(I won't grow up)
I don't want to go to school.
(I don't want to go to school)
Just to learn to be a parrot,
(Just to learn to be a parrot)
And recite a silly rule.
(And recite a silly rule)
If growing up means
It would be beneath my dignity to climb a tree,
I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up
Not me!
Not I,
Not me!
Not me!
I won't grow up,
(I won't grow up)
I don't want to wear a tie.
(I don't want to wear a tie)
And a serious expression
(And a serious expression)
In the middle of July.
(In the middle of July)
And if it means I must prepare
To shoulder burdens with a worried air,

I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up
Not me,
Not I,
Not me!
So there!
Never gonna be a man,
I won't!
Like to see somebody try
And make me.
Anyone who wants to try
And make me turn into a man,
Catch me if you can.
I won't grow up.
Not a penny will I pinch.
I will never grow a mustache,
Or a fraction of an inch.
'Cause growing up is awfuller
Than all the awful things that ever were.
I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up,
No sir,
Not I,
Not me,
So there!

I won't grow up!
(I won't grow up)
I will never even try
(I will never even try)
I will do what Peter tells me
(I will do what Peter tells me)
And I'll never ask him why
(And I'll never ask him why)

We won't grow up!
(We won't grow up)
We will never grow a day
(We will never grow a day)
And if someone tries to make it
(And if someone tries to make it)
We will simply run away
(We will simply run away)

I won't grow up!
(I won't grow up)
No, I promise that I won't
(No, I promise that I won't)
I will stay a boy forever
(I will stay a boy forever)
And be banished if I don't!
(And be banished if I don't)

And Never Land will always be
The home of beauty and joy
And neverty
I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up
Not me!
Not me!
Not me!
Not me!
No sir!
Not me!

"Things To Do Before I Die" was a list I started over 2 years ago

However morbid the title, my campaign is for everyone to live each day doing something with the gusto as if it were their last ("because one day you will be right.")

Set goals, however grandiose or simple, and work toward them.

To keep my list handy, incapable of getting tattered or lost, I opened a blog and published it online, where I could also journal my progress.

"RANDOM LISTS"

If someone were to ask me why I needed to get strings for my guitar that hasn't been playable since my jackass brother broke them 20 years ago, I would say, "The sheet music for 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' theme is written for guitar, so I have to learn to play it."

The guitar itself isn't on the list, but Buffy is.

Then I also put my holiday gift wish list on there (with hyperlinks), so a flimsy paper copy wouldn't be needed whenever anyone asked me what I wanted,

Eventually the blog also became a vent for other topics, and ended up as my internet "junk drawer" of random lists.

Computer crashes have frequently pissed on my posting a lot of wonderful new blog entries, but that one list of "Things To Do Before I Die" onlly gets touched if I add something to it. .

I've always wanted to punch a Giraffe. Smug, lanky bastards lording it over me every time i go to the zoo - just one, swift side-swipe to the lower jaw...just ONE!
