Am I the only guy in here who doesn't want to have sex with all his friends?

No, I too am able to distinguish friends from lovers, especially straight friends.

I think part of these hetero attractions is that they're unavailable, another part is that heterosexuality sits on the hierarchy of orientation. It's also associated with masculinity so that ups the value of the individual a considerable amount; he' cool, he's a friend, he's hot, and he's masculine!

I think that in a good half of these "I'm in love with a straight friend" situations, the enamored would be less attracted to their friend if they were the same exact person except gay.

Consider yourself lucky he is your friend. A friend is a great thing. Accept that is all he is and forget about anything more. Value the friendship and find someone that can give you what you want.
