Indiana Legalizes Discrimination Against Gays

Hit them where it hurts....their wallets....more of it....

One would be led to think that they impact couldn't be very great but, at any rate, if Hoosiers are anything like Spaniards of the Franquist regime, or of the times of the old monarchy, they'd rather rot in their filthy pride and righteousness than accept money they consider filthy.

The NCAA needs to weigh the cost of lost revenue versus doing the right thing. The NCAA is one of the "sacred cows" of U.S. sports. If the NCAA pulled out of Indiana, the entire country would take notice and many other organizations would follow their lead, if they haven't done so already.

Back in the day, United Airlines decided to extend its benefits to domestic partners. The "moral" majority pissed and moaned, condemning United. Then, American followed suit. And then there was Delta and others. The "moral' majority had to take its outrage to Amtrak. It only took one company (United) to lead the pack.

My favorite Division I-A school (Northwestern) would definitely refuse to compete in Indiana. Too bad it doesn't play I.U. in football this year. Oh, by the way, N.U. held "Pride Day" at one of its recent basketball games. They continue to lead the pack. I'm sure other schools* would follow.

This American, not Spainish politics, honey. It's all about those little green papers with dead presidents on them.

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at the urging of its leaders will cancel their next convention in Indianapolis.

This thread was NOT moved here from "Hot Topics."

I started it here because it is a current, political event. Which is what we discuss in Current Events and Politics.

When I first looked on Hot Topics Friday it indicated the thread was moved from there to here. If I misinterpreted what I think I saw, I apologize.

This thread was merged with one from HT. This thread started in CE & P. You are both right.

That's not even politics, not even economics, that's just social "morality", and the fact that in America still forces the "moral" forces not to lag behind and keep aside their Taliban morality, as the "moral" forces in Spain had to do in the late 1950s when the isolated economy was on the verge of collapse, must not make you forget the fact that, once they have the opportunity they will feel, not just free, but entitled and justified to unleash their "morality" with a vengeance.

Those "moral" forces are spoiled brat parasites when the system seems fine, and in the time of trouble they dust off their "great awakenings": and THAT is totally American.

This couldn't have happened to a better person. This shows how the law is ridiculous.

Marcus Bachmann Refused Service in Indiana, Store Owner Assumed He Was Gay
By Alexander Crouton-Skitch on March 27, 2015

INDIANAPOLIS – Marcus Bachmann, husband of former Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, unwittingly became the first public face of Indiana’s newly-enacted Religious Freedom Restoration Act, after being refused service at a dress boutique because the store owner assumed he was gay.

The Bachmanns were visiting the state capitol on Thursday to lend their support to embattled Gov. Mike Pence when the incident occurred. Dorothy Holtz, owner of Dotty’s Dress Den described what happened.

Indeed, the first thought is "it is just too good to be true, it must have been made up".

But he IS gay.

The law targets also closeted gays or just the openly gay?

Wait... he didn't think he was gay, he assumed he was a tranny?! :rotflmao:

Now all gGod-fearing heck-pecked hubbies must be loosening their bowels.

[hm, it's really difficult to tell, is conservativefrontline a satire magazine?]

Gov. Mike Pence is on ABC's This Week right now, dodging George Stephanopoulos's question about whether the bill allows business owners to refuse service to LGBT people. Pence is a political idiot. (He barely won election in 2012. And that was a Republican hold, after Mitch Daniels, and in a state won a Republican pickup at the presidential level by Mitt Romney.)
