Indiana Legalizes Discrimination Against Gays

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at the urging of its leaders will cancel their next convention in Indianapolis.

They have threatened to cancel their 2017 convention.

As did Gen Con threaten to move their annual convention to a city other than Indianapolis (but then backed down, as the American Family Association predicted they would).

As has the NCAA threatened to move the final four basketball championship games from Indianapolis in 2017 and 2021.

As has the NFL threatened to move the annual Scouting Combine from Indianapolis.

And the Big Ten conference will discuss whether or not it needs to do anything at all.

Talk is cheap.

This thread was merged with one from HT. This thread started in CE & P. You are both right.

I didn't realize that.

I was wondering how there were suddenly a bunch of people talking about Marcus Bachmann and Spanish vs. American politics in a thread about a law in Indiana!

Wait until a gay black person is refused service somewhere in Indiana. Then it will really get fun.

BTW...Marcus Bachmann is not gay...he's just an old closet queen.

Just an Indiana law?. There are 19 other states with similar laws on the books.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...laws-like-indianas-that-no-one-is-boycotting/

Not exactly.

Some of those states have laws that protect gays against discrimination, making their laws arguably limited for fomenting anti-gay hatred.

Indiana does not. And what's more, Indiana governor Pence says he has no intention of passing any laws that would specifically protect gays from discrimination.

The Indiana law is all about making gays second-class citizens.

Public accommodations ARE allowed to discriminate against gays in Indiana and that was true even before this law. This law changes nothing in that regard.

Public accommodations are only not allowed to discriminate against gays in states or cities that have enacted anti-discrimination laws that include gays. Indiana was never among them.

Correct, but I didn't really want to get nit-picky about protected classes which is not the point I was going for anyway.

The "right" to discriminate has a Federal Judicial history. Whether or not you include gay people as a protected class is not why this law, and laws like it are unconstitutional. Every one of them I've ever seen is unconstitutional because they are written to disguise the SPECIFIC bigotry they are intended to allow, thus they become general instruments of bigotry allowing subjective discrimination reliant on the religious opinions of individuals.

In other words you can discriminate against anyone for any reason and cry JEEBUS!

This couldn't have happened to a better person. This shows how the law is ridiculous.

I would love for that to be true, but it sounds like a joke or a hoax.

That she has never met a more "rugged" guy, doesn't mean he is as "rugged" as can be... but talk about the simplest logic to Bachmann, when even those who would laugh at her brains would fall in that same trap just as easily.

It's my opinion that Bachmann is a soft butch Dyke, and Marcus is her political compromise.

Oh yeah I forgot - what kind of business genius turns away customers?

Pence refuses to say that discrimination against gays should be illegal.

Look who he invited to the private signing-in ceremony (press was excluded):

I was hoping chrisrobin had not found this. Gay people are so witty.

WATCH: This Gay Man’s Response To Indiana’s Legalized Discrimination Will Make Your Day (VIDEO)

In a brilliant response to Indiana’s legalized discrimination law, aka the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, a gay entertainer named Randy Rainbow released a YouTube video that needs to be seen by every single person…in the world.

Beautiful in its simplicity, powerful in its message, and absolutely hilarious, Randy Rainbow puts into words and music exactly what many of us have been thinking for the last week.

F**k you, Indiana.

Now we need to find an uncensored one.

That guy is a bit old already to wrap himself in the gay plastic doll looks... he should evolve... become more sound, physically and entertainment-wise.
