Indiana Legalizes Discrimination Against Gays

Benvolio,

Some of what you have written, lately, reeks of desperation. Are you having regrets being a Republican?

In the meantime: I heard a wonderful suggestion. The suggestion is that the major professional sports, especially National Football League (NFL), get involved with not being willing, as soon there is opportunity, to continue doing business in a state that has as law the ability to discriminate against LGBT persons as has been mentioned with the cases of Indiana and Arkansas. Could you imagine if the Colts were to get prepared to move the franchise out of the state of Indiana?!

I can. Los Angeles is very interested in having an NFL team again. There is historical precedent for NFL teams relocating. (The Colts moved from Baltimore, for instance.) What if...

Conservatives Suffer Another Blow As NASCAR Condemns Indiana Religious Freedom Law

April 1, 2015Stephen D Foster Jr

In a stunning setback for Indiana conservatives, NASCAR has made another left turn with a statement condemning the anti-gay religious freedom law passed by Republicans last week.

For decades, conservatives have been able to count on NASCAR as the sport they identify with most. But NASCAR, like the cars and their drivers on the track, are are turning left when it comes to human and civil rights.

Update to Indy's law. They're fixing it but the Dem reporting doesn't think it will include protecting gays. We'll see.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence ‘fixes’ controversial religious freedom law
04/02/15 03:54 PM—Updated 04/02/15 06:34 PM

By Emma Margolin

Indiana’s Republican Gov. Mike Pence signed into law a proposed fix to the week-old Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) on Thursday amid uncertainty as to whether the move would ease intense criticism plaguing the Hoosier State.

“There will be some who think this legislation goes too far and some who think it does not go far enough, but as governor I must always put the interest of our state first and ask myself every day, ‘What is best for Indiana?’” Pence said in a statement. “I believe resolving this controversy and making clear that every person feels welcome and respected in our state is best for Indiana.”

Well, I was referring to all the Latinos who lost their land, and all the Comanches the Rangers shot dead, were the Karonkawa already extinct at this point? I forget.

I always wondered if Tonto was a Comanche.

And yet you accuse me [falsely] of following Republican talking points. Tsk, tsk.

San Antonio has been wanting a professional football team ever since the 8th Wonder of the World opened ;)

So has Chicago, which plays its home games in the world's largest urinal.
