Until a few days ago, I was able to pop into any Instagram, check the pics and occasionally leave a message. However, I'm now being told that I'm part of a region (UK) that has to pay to see them. Not only that, any info I supply will be used for ads. Needless to say, Meta can take a running jump, as I'm not forking out a monthly sub just to look into a few Instagram sites and be inundated with ads. My query is whether this applies only to the UK, or are other countries affected. I'm sure a few JUBbers will know! ... These are what pop up when I click onto any Instagram page ... :( ...

I'm suspious. No where in that notice does it say the message is from "Instagram"...although it does say "Meta" at the top. If it is a valid notice, I wonder if Meta lost a lawsuit with the UK and can't show ads to teenagers. Or maybe it is a way the UK can force Meta to prove minimum age by requiring credit card payment.

No change for me in USA as of this morning.

^^^ Thanks. I just googled this topic and there are loads of comments about it, including from people with Instagram accounts who complain that no-one is looking at their content any more or leaving any comments. The situation seems to apply not only to the UK but European countries as well. I did pop into a few Insta sites now and again but I'm not paying to do so, especially with the threat of ads popping up all the time. Anyway, here's what I found by googling ...
