Extreme Muppet
Yeah I could do it, no problem. But why should I. I enjoy learning and interacting through it. It saves me from the telly and gives me choice and broadens my horizons. I do use computers for work to program systems but not every day. They enhance my life by removing drudgery and expense. I can program a fire alarm manually but it will take 10 times longer. I can call someone on the phone and it will cost infinitely more. I can drive to the post office to pay a bill and then queue or I can do it on line. I can't see what point I would be making by giving it up. I would watch the national news on tv and have no way of getting an alternative view point. I may watch a movie and have no way of finding out more about the actors, I could read a book, which I do any way, and not be able to share my thoughts or learn those of others on it etc etc. So I see no point in participating unless someone wants to sponsor me to do it for a good cause: perhaps enabling people in developing countries to get on the net so they can benefit from the information that is available on it.
