Interview With The Vampire. Any Thoughts?

I love Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, especially "Interview with the Vampire", "The Vampire Lestat", "Queen of the Damned", and "Memnoch the Devil" (truly visionary).

I think the movie version of "Interview..." was stylistically right on. Brad Pitt was excellent, Tom Cruise not so great but I wouldn't say horrible. Like any book turned movie, a lot was left out.

I was really disappointed with the "Queen of the Damned" movie. The story is changed so much from the books (combining elements of "The Vampire Lestat" and "Queen of the Damned" and changing them altogether). Aaliyah was a gorgeous choice for the Queen, but the rest of the movie fell flat on its face.

I think the beginning story (as described in the book) of Akasha and Enkil (the first vampires) and Maharet and Mekare would make such a better movie.

I think PBS Masterpiece Theater or the CBC could do a great job with a The Witching Hour miniseries. Have it go from generation to generation like The Forsyth Saga.

I have read ALL her books. The books in the last 10 years have beyond sucked cause she decided her books should not be edited. But Antonio Bendaris was so not right for the Armand part!!!! Armand is suppose to be a young "cherubed" face red haired boy! Tom Cruise sucks no matter what he's in! I did like Steward Townsend(sp?) as Lestat. And whoever said Aaliyah was a twat-HOW DARE YOU!!!! The poor girl died in a accident right before the movie came out. It did make the movie abit scarier knowing she was dead and the way she sadly died at the end by turning to ash with that pained looked on her face must have tore her families heart out! But books are ALWAYS better than the movies. You can only show so much in 90 minutes. Her books are beyond homoerotic! but did anyone read the sleeping beauty trilogy? WOW!!! now that woman taught me a thing or two!!!
