I love Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, especially "Interview with the Vampire", "The Vampire Lestat", "Queen of the Damned", and "Memnoch the Devil" (truly visionary).
I think the movie version of "Interview..." was stylistically right on. Brad Pitt was excellent, Tom Cruise not so great but I wouldn't say horrible. Like any book turned movie, a lot was left out.
I was really disappointed with the "Queen of the Damned" movie. The story is changed so much from the books (combining elements of "The Vampire Lestat" and "Queen of the Damned" and changing them altogether). Aaliyah was a gorgeous choice for the Queen, but the rest of the movie fell flat on its face.
I think the beginning story (as described in the book) of Akasha and Enkil (the first vampires) and Maharet and Mekare would make such a better movie.
