Anyone getting it? I ordered one tonight. I plan on using it in the classroom for lesson plan notes, attendance, etc..

I've always felt I didn't need one, but the Apple launch video featured a demo of Garageband for iPad, and I think I'm sold.

I already have the iPad 1 and I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon... well maybe when the iPad 3 comes out. My brother is planning on getting it though; he's soooo excited.

Side note on using it for school; it's sooo great with the right apps. It beats lugging the laptop to school, saves your back from the excess weight. But if you plan on typing, I'd recommend getting a bluetooth applekeyboard or the case with a built in keyboard. Just my 2 cents!

Part of it for me is that I just also replaced my laptop with a MacBook Pro, and its got to last me at least 4 years. The iPad would be a quasi-PC so I don't have to lug my laptop when I just need something to take simple notes on.

I'm also really interested in making technology a big part of my classroom when I get my first teaching job, and the iPad would be a good way to do that.

Things I want to know: where do these people who can easily go out and buy iPads, iPods, and Macs work? Do they spend an entire months pay on these devices? Do they save up? Borrow loans? 12-month financing? What?

I used my birthday money to buy myself an iPod Classic, it cost me about $300 dollars that's including the Target warranty and the iPod itself.

Boyfriend gave me his old 2005 Powerbook which I gladly upgraded the RAM to 1.5GB and installed Mac OS X Leopard. He bought himself a Macbook Pro which was like almost $2,000 dollars expensive but he was tired of his Powerbook and wanted an Intel Mac.

Then me and the boyfriend bought the iPhone 4 and I saved my money for that and he already had money saved up for his. I don't really need an iPad since I have an iPhone.

Oh and the boyfriend is a cook so he doesn't make a shit load of money either its just good hard work and saving. I don't know where all these other people who buy five Mac computers and two iPads work probably most of them work for Apple. I know a friend who works for Apple and they gave him a Verizon iPhone 4.

No, they are quite rich and just go & buy.
Their savings are un-noticeable after they bought a lot of expensive stuff ;)

"lugging" your notebook

maybe you should better invest in some workout lessons :p

^ I must confess, when I read the "lugging" comment, I thought to myself "How soft are we getting?" When I went to university, I carried about 10kgs of books every day!

today it is probably about a 100gigas of bytes every day :)

Haha. I didn't mean literally lugging. What I meant was taking it back and forth and the wear and tear that that results in.

I have an iPad 1 and an iPhone 4 and will not be getting iPad 2 as current one is just fine and phone does all the photography stuff. I didn't get iPhone 1 as it didn't have as much stuff as the competition but did get 3g. Didn't upgrade to 3GS at end of contract but waited till iPhone 4 and was glad I did.

I want to get one, but it's expensive! I'll definitely get the iPad8 ;) I should have enough money by then, hehe.

For now my only apple product is my ipod

I was going to wait for an iPad but ended with an ipad1 an saved over a hundred dollars at best buy. Sure, the ipad2 looked great but it was not worth the wait or the money that I saved in an original iPad.
Only frustration has been the lack of FLASH programing.

The new Motorola tablet is supposedly a lot better, according to an acquaintance. However, I believe it costs around 200 or 300 dollars more. I myself just use a pocket sized tablet with a processor just under the speed of the iphone 4 and I love it.

Yeah - that happened here in Brisbane too - a few of the sites, especially the Apple Stores were packed with huge lines - thankfully I went to a third party retailer - there was a line but nothing so extreme.

Can you watch streaming vies from this site. I seem to be challenged. Mine is not jail broken.is that my problem? I know the iPad does not support flash. Any alternatives for a non tech guy?

It isn't. The Xoom is a beta device running beta software. Its buggier than Android 1.0, and lacking any 3rd party apps that are worthwhile.

I was playing with the Motorola tablet at bestbuy a few days ago i like the layout and its pretty fast.

After spending months looking at different tablets and reading the reviews. I brought the ipad1 with my extra tuition money i like it because its small and mobile and i can read my online stories with it and it sleeps with me in the bed! I jailbroke it and let me tell you it opens up a whole new world with the ipad. But i don't really use the apps that much
