Do i look like a pasty-faced readhead? lol

I wouldnt never program something with few privacy features and way too many useless apps & quizzes.

What im doing has many of its more useful features, but im doing for a specific community, not for the interwebz in general.

All I have to go on is my mental picture of what you probably look like. And yeah, pasty-faced red head was part of that image.

My point is that talk is cheap and we don't know WHAT you look like. Because on the internet nobody knows you're a dog. You can tell us anything you want from the safety of your anonymity, can't you?

What im doing has many of its more useful features, but im doing for a specific community, not for the interwebz in general.

And we're supposed to believe that why? Because to be honest, the way you've been carrying on, I think it's more likely you're just some bored kid in mom's basement.

Im not going to post a thousand lines of code on here so i guess it's a moot point i can't really prove shit to you. And even if i could im sure you'd find fault with *something* so whats the point?...

Could you please explain what anonymity has to do with anything? cuz i don't get it. are you less anonymous than myself? Do you hold yourself back at all from making personal attacks because of your anonymity? So why should I?

It's as if your own arguments never apply to you jasun. That's called a double-standard. (and they're usually reserved for married women).

Well YOU were the one who dragged what I do for a living into the arguement, telling me that because I do "tacky porn" that I don't know about technology. Don't let your mouth write checks that your ass can't cash, babe.

Since I assume your job doesn't require much past saying "would you like fries with that," I think it's now in your court to demonstrate how your superior knowledge qualifies you to call us all "douche" for liking our iPads.

Am I less anoymous that you? Well, you know who I am, know what I do for a living, have seen my work, probably read my blog... you know my first and last name... so yeah... I'm going to say I'm less anonymous than you.

Did you not first remark on my inability to afford an Ipad without having the slightest clue as to what i earn? Don't be surprised that i considered your profession fair game after that.

Sounds like a line from a cheesy porn flick.

With an attitude like yours, i wouldn't be surprise if you got more than just salt on your fries. And frankly, i've already demonstrated that i know more about technology than you guys, simply by proving that all the technologies and programs you're all so impressed with were already there before the Ipad's release.

Don't get ahead of yourself ;) i dont know your last name, or your website, or your blog, and i haven't seen your videos; What i have seen is threads where you defend the heterosexuality of your gay-4-pay models. (breeder-worship being, IMHO, an insult to the gay community, and a far superior example of homophobia, than bad vocabulary choices).

ah. I see.

Wow, just painting yourself into a little corner, aren't you?

OK, I can see we're done here. Thanks for playing everyone.

posted from my iPad.

but there we are back to the root of this debate. the iPad is not doing something better, it's just more convenient for some people .. and even that is debatable.

More convenient = better user experience.

I don't really see the "debate" - for some people this is a better experience/product, for others it's not.

It's as pointless as debating what pizza topping is better or what sort of sandwich is best. It's a subjective experience.

debatable = many people say so because they have to justify their investment.

carrying around a table pc and typing on a touch keyboard isn't really convenient for many people.
oh yeah you can lay in bed, too. but .. yep you got it .. you can do that with a netbook AND have a proper keyboard.
i know there is a keyboard for the iPad as well, but umm .. that kinda defeats the purpose of the device, doesn't it?

as I said .. bottled water.

Well and that's the whole problem. An ACTUAL programmer would understand that. It's the same reason why the same games are available for so many platforms, why the same albums are available on so many formats. Why movies are viewable in theaters, iTunes, DVD, BlueRay and Netflix Streaming..

It's why these threads where the rant boys jumping up and down and throwing fits and calling people names are just baffling.

I mean, when someone says they bought a new BlueRay of a movie they like, the theater-goers don't post list upon list of why theaters are better and call people "douche" for preferring a home theater, do they?

I dunno, maybe they do... I stay out of the entertainment forum... to much Lady Gaga

um wait .. what? you're trying to compare apple hardware to the portability of different formats? you know .. the company which wants to control whatever whoever does with anything of their products? the company who shuts out any programmer that doesn't stick to their rules, their development platform even their compiler? the company who cries wolf towards adobe because flash is so "closed" and talk about html5 while at the same time they try to push their own flash clone?

yeah i am sure, they are a poster child for "choice" and portability ;)

Well and that's the whole problem.

I dunno.

I think there are a lot of giant freaks into their tech who probably have true diagnosable personality disorders, and consequently don't understand real world usage, and are actually hostile to it. And of course there are the tech equivalents of the big car people who boat about their gigabytes to compensate for their little dicks.

Although there are a lot of people with the fluidity to live a bit in both worlds, in general it's probably a bad idea to talk about a consumer experience in a tech board, because it's a foreign experience for many there. That was my error, in retrospect.

funny that you mention this. you know in times where people just plug in iPod earplugs to look as if they have that status-symbol "iPod".

Indeed, though I think that's a fad that's seen its day. The iPod is so pervasive there's very little point in tying to impress anyone by having one. The high-end headsets are probably more of a status symbol these days, in some circles.

Time will tell, but my own experience is that it's significantly more convenient than a netbook or laptop.

i know there is a keyboard for the iPad as well, but umm .. that kinda defeats the purpose of the device, doesn't it?

That depends on what you think the purpose is.

as I said .. bottled water.

And as I said, that's true of personal computers on the whole. Business, homes and government functioned well enough for centuries before the pc became a standard item in all of them.

Of course it's also the purpose of business to make money by creating demand, so Apple is doing a nice job of that.

Just following what I think your point was.

All of the things that we're enjoying about our iPads are things that you and purpledic say you've been doing for years on your own portable devices. And great... maybe you have.. but we prefer it on the device WE have..

Not much different than the VHS people making a huge stink about the BETA and LaserDisc people, really.

Oh ... well then for you apple made something aeons ago. unfortunately they weren't "cool" back then, so Palm got all the fame.

I present you .. the Apple Newton Message Pad:

368px-Apple_Newton.jpg

lol, i bought something similar. Its called electronic organizer BUT i never touch it ever since. What a waste of $20 ....

Anyway, for iPad fans, it is suitable for displaying photos if you are a photographer!!!

... ahhh Beta tapes and LaserDisc, those things expired shortly after they came out.
Money wasted for those people.
