iPad Win

sounds like the op is trying to convince himself as to why he bought it

i dont feel sold on the product based on his testimonial

That's a vivid imagination you have.

and what a limited imagination the op must have by pointing out email capabilities as if its 1980

step in 2010 already email is no longer a feature

its an expected requirement rotf

What's limited is your reading comprehension, which fails you.

Email capability was never the point - the use of email in a tablet device that made it suitable for meetings use.

Perhaps someone could help me... try as I might, I cannot seem to find a legitimate reason in the entirety of the English language why "iPad Win" should even be uttered. Even as sarcasm it seems like a horrifying joke

I think I've seen and heard about more apple minions rejecting this...thing...more than all of apples other "devices" if we shall call them that.

I shudder at the thought of having to carry a gigantic iphone (let alone a real one) to do things that were possible, in an easier fashion, long before.

2 million sold in first 60 days. That's one every 3 seconds. It's a win for Apple, if nobody else.

Well in my office of 11 people, 4 of us have iPads and all love them. So there goes that theory.

Wow.... I thought this thread was dying off.

The iPad is a giant win for Apple. They are selling extremely well. Th iPad is also a win for the people who its abilities match their needs (even if its way over priced). Does that help?

:D

I admit to acme naïveté in starting this thread to share my perspective on a new tech product after some use. I hadn't anticipated the antics of the OS vs OS types who can only discuss anything through a filter of putting down one producer or another.

I stand by my position that the iPad is a win for my purposes. I've also noted where it falls short. This is not even an Apple Win position, as similar non-Apple products will soon be available.

I'm reminded by some of the zeal of gay hating religious extremists who are incapable of any rational discussion without venting some hate of gays.

Some apple diehards are rejecting it because its not aimed for them. The iPad is all about CONSUMING content, while a lot of diehard apple geeks are about CREATING content. They're not rejecting it because they don't like it; they're rejecting it because it doesn't serve a purpose for them.

CumAlong, the iPad's flying off the shelves all over the world; millions have already been sold.

Now, here's the other side:

Consumer Reports suggests that, if you're looking for an e-reader, the iPad's probably not the best choice. I can copy and paste the entire review here for anyone who's interested.

If I wanted an eReader (I actually do) I would choose the iPad, even though its more expensive. Why? Because for that added cost you get a library of apps and WAY more functionality. I'd consider the Nook (mom has one and its great), but it would be a close second.

I'm glad the OP has found a device to suit his needs. I think the ease and all-in-one capability makes the iPad look great.

I probably won't get one until the price has dropped and some of the problems have been addressed.

Wait... I don't need one, has anyone seen my Tricorder? I can scan for lifeforms, precious little lifeforms!
