iPhones news thread

If you take Apples estimate for 2008, it works out to 27,397 per day. But remember Steve Ballmer said that Apple *won't make a penny on the iPhone*.

640k otta be enough for anybody...|

Survey: iPhone already impacting cellular

The release of the iPhone is already beginning to skew the demographics of the cellphone industry, just a little over a month after its release, according to a ChangeWave survey. The group found that of those surveyed, the iPhone by itself had taken a one percent market share, and it was the cellphone of choice for 16 percent of those planning to buy within the next six months. This figure is said to be higher than for any other manufacturer; the same can be said for customer satisfaction, with 77 percent of iPhone owners saying they were "Very Satisfied" with their purchase. By comparison, only 50 percent of RIM Blackberry owners had the same answer.
Cellular networks are themselves beginning to show signs of iPhone impact. While Verizon market share has dropped for the first time in over a year, to 29 percent, iPhone carrier AT&T's share has risen to an all-time peak of 28 percent. Similarly, 30 percent of those planning to switch carriers within six months have chosen AT&T, while Verizon interest has continued to slide to 19 percent. T-Mobile is down to five percent, while Sprint has fallen to three.

AT&T does not rank as highly in terms of network satisfaction, however. Verizon leads in this area at a 46 percent rate of "Very Satisfied" responses, versus AT&T's distant 31 percent. But given trends since the iPhone's announcement in January, ChangeWave is arguing that the overall momentum is in Apple and AT&T's favor.

AJ, you have a sense of humour? Do you know my friend Dez in Townsville in Q'land? He has one too. He fixes PC's for a living and still has a sense of humour. I guess there is lots of work for him and he makes a killing. Anyway, if you get to T'ville look him up. He'll prolly take u for a 7 course dinner.:)

Unlock your iPhone.

Some 17 year old kid did some amphetamines and stayed away for a week to provide you with this:

Oh, and one of the phone's he's unlocked is currently going for US$3.250,00.

OMFG! I didn't see the video. No wonder he unlocked his iPhone. It's not like he'd be out getting laid - this decade.

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

That's terrible (but true) - betcha there'd be a few volunteers here on JUB though

Hell, are you kidding??? I'd break him in! He's a cute little nerd. Once we fix his hair and get him some better clothes, he'd be grade A(ish) material! I'd hit that. Nothing like breaking in fresh young geeks ;) hehe. :p I'd give him a pounding he'd never.... Well, you get the idea.

I'm sure everyone has seen this, but it's hilarious. iPhone lovers should look away.

Will it blend? That is the question...

iSmoke... hehe.

IPhone outsells smartphones in U.S. in July-iSuppli

http://investing.reuters.co.uk/news/articleinvesting.aspx?type=media&storyID=nL04323693

FRANKFURT, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Apple Inc's (AAPL.O: Quote, Profile, Research) iPhone outsold all smartphones in the United States in July, its first full month on sale, accounting for 1.8 percent of all U.S. mobile handset sales, research group iSuppli said on Tuesday.

ISuppli reiterated its forecast that Apple would sell 4.5 million iPhones this year, rising to more than 30 million in 2011.

The two models of the iPhone on the market sold more than Research in Motion's (RIM.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) Blackberry series, the entire Palm (PALM.O: Quote, Profile, Research) portfolio and any individual smartphone model from Motorola (MOT.N: Quote, Profile, Research), Nokia (NOK1V.HE: Quote, Profile, Research) or Samsung (005930.KS: Quote, Profile, Research).

Sales equalled those of LG Electronics' (066570.KS: Quote, Profile, Research) Chocolate, the most popular feature phone on the U.S. market, iSuppli said.

ISuppli classifies the iPhone as a crossover phone that competes with both smartphones, which have personal computer-like functions such as e-mail, and feature phones, which have extras such as cameras and music players.

"While iSuppli has not collected historical information on this topic, it's likely that the speed of the iPhone's rise to competitive dominance in its segment is unprecedented in the history of the mobile-handset market," iSuppli said.

"Apple achieved this in the face of numerous, well-entrenched competitors."

Most buyers of iPhones in the United States in July were male, under 35 and had a college degree, iSuppli said.

A quarter of those who bought an iPhone switched to operator AT&T (T.N: Quote, Profile, Research), which has an exclusive service agreement for the iPhone in the United States.

The iPhone will go on sale in Europe later this year.

ISuppli gathered its data through a consumer survey of 2 million participants in the United States that it carries out online once a month.

It's easy to circumvent the legality.

The phone is free. However, you must make a 'donation' to receive your free gift.

Done.

I remember when you went down to eaton's, you bought a cheap little phone, plugged it into the wall and forgot about it. Those were the days :D :p
