for iPod users...

I'm curious in getting one, but have heard of the proprietary itunes aspect of ipod.

That has given me a bit of apprehension although i'm still considering getting one.

My question is:

Is your iPod able to transfer the MP3s from your device to ANY other PC besides the synchronized one?

or does it have to be already configured with "itunes" and your personal settings for it to transfer MP3s from device to computer?

was hoping that it could file transfer mp3s as well--since i have a few mp3s on different PCs.

that makes getting an iPod with a large storage space more compelling--as it would be able to contain your entire music library.

must admit that i'm a bit hesitant in getting the 80gb iPod.

My fear is that there will be a new model that does everything this does in less than 3-6 months of me buying it #-o

ohhh ok ;)

glad that you replied back with that bit of info, there.

that helps in regards to my decision making.

thanx again ..|

btw...

is there any word that there will be a new iPod coming out soon?

Excluding the iPhone of course (considering getting that too...I know...I've been brainwashed, lol)

the iPod loves playing MP3s, and with special software (not iTunes) u can transfer songs from your iPod to your PC or mac. itunes wil even sync purchased iTunes music from your ipod to as many as 4 PCs.

that sounds more of what i had hoped for ;)

guess i'll just get it...and if it's not what i had hoped for i'll give it to my god kids.

Actually when I think of it...the father (my close friend) probably would want the iPod even more than them, lol.

anyways, thanx again for sharing guys

Yes... but then you plug it up and leave it alone for a few hours and it comes back to life... just like jesus

Wow I never knew Jesus came with a power adaptor. Love the analogy.
i heard the when the ipod's battery dies, it dead.

Seriously though when your ipod Battery will no longer hold a charge replacements are readily available and can be replaced by the user. Pay no heed to rumours to the contrary.

if you want a big one the ipod is probably the best until a possible new zune but i wouldn't hold my breath on that

Flash players are the ones with heaps of competition at the moment there are some really good ones and apple are a bit behind not offering video playback and a larger screen on the nano

thanx AJ, for the heads up about what's out there.

must admit that discovering how Apple handles their warranty is another incentive in me getting one.

I've heard online reviewers mention that they were given a replacement iPod when something went awry--which is very refreshing in today's technological world.

i have a shuffle with a mac. i sometimes use it on my parents windws pc. you have to choose to show hidden folders on the disk. then a folder called 'IPOD_CONTROL' will appear. inside should be 'MUSIC'. inside that will be 'F00,F01,F02...etc'. inside will be your music. it will be named strangely NWYZ.m4a,AWR.m4a,etc. But if you open it with iTunes or Quicktime on the new comp, the tags will appear and the music will have the original info shown.
