Did anyone see the series premiere of ABC's "Last Man Standing?"

It's actor & comedian Tim Allen's new sitcom. Tim Allen is most known for his long-running & successful series, "Home Improvement" which aired from 1991 to 1999.

In this new show, Tim Allen plays a manly, "blue collar" macho American dad surrounded by women (his wife & his daughters).

His character appears to be Republican. In the series premiere, it was mentioned that he hates "Obamacare", and there was also a scene where he was going to drop off his grandson at the "Rainbow Day care center." There was a liberal guy with long, shaggy hair -- and he mentioned that the other parents are two gay daddies, and that the children will be "building a mosque out of pillows."

That caused Tim Allen to panic and take his kids out of the "Rainbow daycare." Later in the episode he says that he doesn't want his grandson learning to dance on a float (implying at a gay pride parade).

Does anyone know if Tim Allen (in real life) is a conservative or Republican?

I was trying to find any quotes or evidence of his political affiliation or leanings, but I can't find anything conclusive.

@Tombastep,

I asked because I am curious about Tim Allen's political leanings, given that the character he portrays in his new show appears to be very conservative & very Republican.

The politics forum is for spirited discussion & debate of political ideology, & news relating to politics going on at the state, federal, or international level.

IMO, this topic is best addressed in the "Hot topics" forum.

Is Tim Allen a republican?

Let's see.....

1) arrested for cocaine possession
2) ratted on friends to get a light sentence so he wouldn't spend life in prison
3) spent years in a federal penitentiary
4) is an ex-con
5) arrested for DUI
6) has been in rehab

Yuppers, sure sounds like a republican to me.

@CowboyBob, are you serious?

Are you saying that no Democrats have been busted for cocaine possession, no Democrats are ex-cons, no Democrats have been arrested for DUI, and no Democrats have ever been in rehab?

Please.

Actually, sounds a hell of a lot more like countless Democrats.

And who cares if he is a Republican or not? Watch his damn shows or movies or don't.

From your description, it seems as if Allen is lampooning these over reactions to modern America. He is a comedian afterall.

I've never understood why he's still around.

He must have some really good dirt on somebody at Disney.

Only you would care.

Ask the Mods to start an IS HE REPUBLICAN? Forum for you. I anticipate a long list of threads of similar vein.

Who the fuck gives a rat's ass what his politics are?

I could care less what he is as long as he doesn't piss on my foot.

Jesus Henry Christ.

Please tell me that we're not going to get one of these threads every week speculating about who's a Republican just so that you can keep 'Republican' in the face of all the people who ceased to care about your obsession a couple of months ago.

@Rareboy,

Why do you (& others) have so much hatred for me?

I'm just a gay man........like you.

@Corny, why do you hate me so much?

I feel like everyone on JUB is using me as a punching bag.

I want to cry :cry:

Why do you never actually answer posts when you are called out on your flawed arguments? All you do is claim that people "hate" you and suddenly all your otherwise carefully portrayed manliness is swept away and you "want to cry" :roll:. How about you actually once deal with the arguments? You ALWAYS dodge the topic, you ALWAYS blame it on you being the victim. Even in the CO&R forum you don't take ANY of the advice that people are giving you. And now you wander around here and turn thread after thread into a thread about YOU or republicans. Even your new and silly sig has no other intentions than bringing more attention and ambivalence to your persona.

If you want to be so manly, fucking MAN UP. Argue and don't dodge arguments. Don't change the topic. Don't bring politics into non-politic debates. Don't bring your persona into debates that are not about you or your views.

Bullshit.

I can't even muster enough interest for a good hate in your case.

I just lost patience weeks ago with your narcissism and your poor conservative Republican me routine.

You are not a gay man like me. To begin with, I am not 'gay'.

I am an out, proud homosexual.

I have been in a relationship with one man for over 28 years.

Before that, I led the Lascivious and joyful life of a sexual libertine.

I moved out of my parent's house at 18 and worked my own way to a grad degree.

I have marched in the protests and the parades, including the bath house raid protests back in the 70's.

Over the years I have contributed whatever resources and influence I could to help achieve eqaul rights for homos in Canada.

I support a raft of liberal causes on behalf of children around the world and against injustice in North America.

I despise the politicization and the polarization of every issue by cynical and self-serving people in their lust for power.

I loathe the divisive and corrosive language mostly used by the Right Wing political and religious establishment and the demonization of the very things that as a Canadian citizen, and having travelled and done business around the world, I know to be in the common good and to contribute to a stronger and healthier community and nation.

I hate stupid, unthinking and uncaring greed.

I hate the smugness of the pampered children of parents who keep their children like pets.

I've been chastised and sent to the bad Jubber's corner for letting my impatience bubble over when I have read ungenerous and overtly homophobic or anti-homo rights nonsense....or when I have suffered through yet another hagiography scribbled on behalf of some odious fringe element conservative.

So no, I don't hate you.

I loathe just about everything you stand for and hold up as a superior standard for behaviour.

And you are not the same as I am.

@Rareboy,

That's great that you found happiness as a sexual libertine, and later in a relationship with your domestic partner. That's wonderful that you have been an activist and advocate for liberal causes, and taken part in gay marches during bathhouse raids.

I don't have an issue with yours or any one else's beliefs. While I may disagree with some of your views, we have the freedom and liberty to express them.

But I kindly ask that extend the same tolerance to me & other conservatives, that you ask for yourself, and other liberal causes that you hold dear.

What I resent is that you guys constantly spew liberal talking points on JUB, and miss no opportunity to criticize and bash conservatives & Republicans, including myself. And yet, when I give conservative talking points, that becomes suddenly too much for you all to bear.

I'm not asking you (or anyone else) to agree with my views.

But please, don't try to tell me how to live my life. I have been silent while numerous members of JUB have repeatedly attacked my parents and my family -- while you have called me a "pet."

I don't wish to be a liberal activist like yourself, and boycott any business that doesn't meet your standards for being "gay friendly" (i.e. Target, Chick-fil-A). I don't wish to be a sexual libertine. I don't wish to participate in "bathhouse marches."

I would like to live my life as an openly gay man, sorry openly "homosexual" man, on MY OWN TERMS, not yours.

Thank you for listening.

You go right ahead and do what you want to do.

None of us care.

But when you continue to support and promote the political causes and people who not only oppose but wish to strip homos of our rights, that shower you feel is just about everyone pissing on your parade.

And if every thread that you make is only about Republicans and why liberal homos are to balme for your and society's ills, expect there to be thunder as well.
