i was tricked by amway once, many many years ago.
It didn't cost me much tho, only bought afew products from them.

just curious, are they still in Business ?
If so, shouldn't they be banned from operating ?

well, if i have any questions on my mind, i would ask instantly. :)
why hold back. ;)

jamesy, Amway is a pyramid selling products company.

there tooth paste (nothing special) sells 2 or 3 times higher than the shop.
They are a cult !!!

They are 100% still in business. I really don't know anything much about the company in general, but they have the naming on the Arena in Orlando, FL and the owner of the NBA team - The Orlando Magic, Rich DeVos is huge in the Amway organization. (I just looked it up - he's co-founder).

It is now Quixstar in the USA and still goes by AmWay in other countries. Over the last 6 months I've seen commercial for Quixstar on Dish network channels.

They are moving away from the Quixstar and back to Amway. They still are located in Lowell, MI and are making billions.

After they changed the name, they found they lost the brand recognition; it seems they are looking to reclaim that mystique.....

Dick DeVos ran for governor of Michigan and lost. He used "change" as a magic word- we need change, time for change, etc. and didn't offer much else in explanation of what that change would be. When our Governor Granholm pointed out that his company is based in Bermuda or some other country and therefore doesn't pay taxes, she scored a useful point.

MLM? there's other MLM opportunities out there, but the person on the bottom of the pyramid will never make as much as the person on top. Everything in this world is a pyramid shape. I think it's about time we turn the pyramid upside down.
That turning things upside down has been tried and done before, and it always remains a pyramid.

ok, many people here know about Amway or experienced Amway meetings ?

They are like religious cult, trying to convert people who knows nothing about Amyway or rather Independent Business Owners (IBOs).

The trick is they don't want you to use their name "Amway".
They make you think you are the owner of the business (your own business cards and everything but they are the SOLE seller/distributor of the products hence everything you do, they win (they make all the profits from you).

Well from what I know they are still in business.

And know quite sure how you could be 'tricked' in to buying something from someone.
A person comes to you with something to sell, you figure you want to buy it or you don't... unless they held a guy to your head, or did a bait and switch on you man... I'd guess that you bought the product of your own free will.

Years ago I bought a couple of cleaning products form an Amway guy.... seems that the products were top notch, just not sure they were the price I paid.
But the deal with them is that they want you to buy the products then the guy selling to you wants you to buy from him to sell to others....
That's where the original guy gets his money. He gets a commission on what you sell.

I think the products are fine and good. Maybe just a tad pricey.
Seems to me there should be no reason for them to be banned from selling their product.
People want to sell and if people want to buy, well that's how it all works.

^ well, as i said before, they are like a cult and always want to convert people who know nothing about Amway.

I was tricked to be a paid member of Amway.
Tricked because i didn't know anything. They sells motivation tapes/CDs ... etc, it was like brainwashing really.

Those people above me (very smart) were tricked by Amway too.

We left AMWAY 30 yrs ago now what about ummm ohh i forget something australian , they drove around to your your house

:confused::confused: You joined a cult that sold toothpaste, washing powder and diamonds?

well, the way they operate their businesses were like a religious cult.

I was invited to a meeting, i saw clapping, cheering ... etc and they were talking about how successful their businesses were but the facts were most/all of them were NOT successful.

and according to that the difference from hundreds, thousands of other companies lies in...?

^ great description of what Amway is all about. :)

They are still in business because they encourage newbies (know nothing about Amway) to create their own business names but ALL the products belong to Amway.

"where 99.9% of people make almost nothing "

What I still can't understand is how they can make over $7 billion.
