  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Is anybody going to even DARE to brave the stores tomorrow?

Will I go Christmas shopping on Friday? Not just No, but Hell No! It isn't worth the wear and tear on my body, mind or soul.

I'll be working. Retail is sooo much fun (sarcasm)

I have a nice 14 hour shift from 11am to 1am.

Really -- who on this board would even think that Old Navy would be one of the hot stores to hit up for day after Thxgiving sales?

Oh, I have the day off so I'll prolly go to one of the malls...

NOT at 5am, mind you (the madness..what the HELL is wrong with people ?)

But some time in the afternoon. I go more to observe than to shop.

It just facinates me, people who usually are relatively 'normal' fighting over
Elmo's and Wii's.

And just think, it's still over a month until Christmas.

'Black Friday', indeed.

Josh

I may, i need a few things from best buy. Walmart has a 42" plasma on sale for like $975... If only i had another credit card! HA!

Brother told me at Wal Mart they have a 52" HD Widescreen TV for $400 bucks. People are waiting out right now in line, brother said that Wal Mart has a line going around the building, Circuit City has a line going around the building, and CompUSA has a line going around the building. GOOD LUCK!

52" for $400??? that's not going to happen, your bro must have been misinformed. Now best buy has a 32" LCD for 349.99, that too is a good deal. But you have to buy a new RAZR cell phone for 29.99 to get the deal...

I believe if you go to walmart dot com all will be revealed.

Maybe different deals for different places. But that's what he told me. Maybe it was $500 I can't remember but thats what he said.

Its going to be like when people were wanting a PlayStation 3, fights, cutting in line, people getting shot. YUP

I've always wondered about this: don't Americans shop in big numbers on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day? Those are usually our biggest days...

Well, we don't have 'boxing day', dr_beat.

But, this whole day after Thanksgiving thing has just spiraled out of control
the last five years or so.

I just watched the local news, and there are actually people camped out in line in tents around some stores.... #-o

But, make no mistake, there will be lots of Xmas eve shoppers, too.

Then, come Jan 1st, lots of weight loss ads and exercise machines.

Oy.

Thanks for the response. I wish we didn't have Boxing Day either. It's a pain in the ass if you work retail.

I'm not even planning to leave the house. Pie for breakfast, turkey for lunch... that's as far ahead as I've planned. I will be going out shopping on Saturday, though: I need a new bowl for Claudius (my surviving turtle, for those not following along). But I'm going to be hitting discount and second-hand stores, I wouldn't be caught dead within a mile of a mall.

Shopping online from the comfort of my home. No traffic or pushing.
Agreed. I'm doing most of my shopping online this year. Although I might check out Wal Mart, Toys R Us, or even the mall...

Although paying for shipping and waiting for the item to arrive sucks. Since it's holiday season, sometimes item shipping is delayed... worse, it may even get lost in the mail... and then there's identity theft if you're not careful with your personal information...

I do some of my shopping online. I also order gifts from like those goodie catalogs you get in the mail. You know, like fruit baskets and cookie towers, stuff like that. I usually order something from one of those every year for my sister in Atlanta.

I don't know that I'm going to do any actual Christmas shopping today, but I have to run out to Petsmart to get stuff for my dogs. So I have to go out regardless.

For others that are going out, good luck

My friend was really pissed off b/c a fat woman pushed him to a shelf:(

I hope he reached back and 'smacked the ho' .... eh probably not.
He probably would have been maimed by the errant, how did this get here? ;) , turkey leg she'd have flung at him from her pocket.

One best buy near where i live had 1500 customers waiting outside over night, yeah so it was about 35 degrees here last night...

I went to different store nearby early and left when I found the line went around the building. Just for fun i asked the first people in line, who had lounge chairs, coolers, and sleeping bags (this is nothing.. some guy had a fish house there as shelter), what time they had arrived.... 3:45pm Really??? I mean how bored can one be? end of rant :)
