Is CE&P Getting Boring?

Sorry dude..But we need a Credible Moderator/Administrator to clear this up...

I wonder if it's just me getting bored with all the blame, slam and lack of open minded thought on CE&P.

It seems like all the same people saying the same thing - blame this, criticize this.

What happened to open discussion. Many threads are just circle jerks.

I just don't feel the same enthusiasm as I used to. I've taken several breaks recently but when I come back -- it's the same people with the same venom.

Is it just me?

We actually had, at one time, a CE&P International subforum.

Mostly Europeans, Australians, and South Africans taking a slow train to China.

I was happy to have it to be honest.

That would be nice to have back.

They got a reasonable response, including useful and thoughtful responses from Americans, and I figured that it was worth the trouble to post,. There is a bit of JUB history on this topic that I think makes a difference. It used to be CE&P for all political topics, and then in an effort to improve things, Mod Towers created an "International" sub-forum, designating CE&P by default as "American Only" and brushing off everything else to this International sub-forum so that Americans would not have to be inconvenienced by ever accidentally reading something that wasn't about themselves.

Okay, I'm sure that wasn't the intent of Mod Towers, but that was the effect. Rather than fostering international discussions, I recall a lot of them drying up around that time, and they've just never come back. It was the wrong call, and it was reversed. If anything, CE&P should be the international forum, and given the demand, an American subforum could be created for those who wish to isolate themselves within their borders.

Anyway, as I have posted elsewhere, all it takes is for the international people to keep posting.

Try typing linkmeallover.CA into your browser and see what happens. And as I said in this thread, the problem is not Americans discussing America. The problem is Americans not discussing anything else. It is embarrassing to watch it. It shows a kind of insular immaturity that will only undermine American interests and slow your country's prospects for growth and influence. There is a whole world out there, and the USA is only about 5% of it.

95% of interesting things are happening somewhere else.

You could argue that JUB is a place for English speakers and therefor it is only natural that everybody talk about the States because the USA is the biggest English speaking country. Yup, but 2.3 billion people live in countries where English is either an official language, or a commonly understood language. That puts the American presence at 13%

So get your heads out of your...country...and look around. A lot is going on out here.

I wish there was a way to get the Americans to post in other countries threads. Me too. I must admit I'm guilty. I have particular interest in Canada as my Grandfather was from there. But I don't post in CA political threads. Mainly I'm not familiar with the political workings. I know, I would learn if I joined in the debate.

Oh yeah, I have a problem in calling us Americans. Calling the United States citizens "Americans" leaves out Canadians and Mexicans. We are all Americans.
