Me and my boyfriend are visiting Copenhagen for the Christmas markets at Christmas and i was wondering if we would get any trouble if we were holding hands in some public places. Are there some good places to go to, like gay bars and other places

I believe you mean 'My boyfriend and I are visiting....', but to the point, be yourselves. If you want to hold hands, hold hands.

As long as you aren't dry-humping one another on a bed of smoked fish, I doubt if anyone will give you grief.

I would Google gay Copenhagen and then go from there to find places that look interesting.

Copenhagen is very gay friendly. I was there some years ago and felt very comfortable.

Hasn't Denmark had same-sex marriage since the '80s? Something tells me you'll be fine.

Denmark was the first country to recognize gay partnerships (1989). There is no same sex marriage, per se. Gay adoptions were approved last year.

Yes, Denmark is one of the most gay friendly places on earth... But don't expect a lot of gay oriented bars, ... Being gay-friendly means they don't get special treatment...

Have fun in Copenhagen, it's a wonderful city!

I've lived in Copenhagen for two years and the city is definitely very gay-friendly. It's not uncommon to see gay couples walking around hand-in-hand and there are even gay hotels. There are plenty of good gay bars to go to as well, depending on your age and what you're looking for... And I haven't posted enough to be able to post URLs, so just add www before the links.

The oldest one in Copenhagen is called Centralhjørnet and is more of a bar where you sit around and drink with your friends than go dancing (at least the few times I went there). It's pretty cool during Christmas time though, they always decorate the place like crazy! They have a website here: centralhjornet.Damien Kyle/centralhjornet/Centralhjrnet_index.html

A personal favorite of mine is Nevermind, which is a (very small) dance bar that always has a ton of good music and a great atmosphere. Spent many a night dancing in there! Check here: nevermindbar.Damien Kyle

Club Christopher opened just before I moved back home, so I was only there once and it was pretty decent as well. It's great for dancing and has a pretty cool layout, but I don't know a lot about what it's like nowadays, I'm afraid. Check it out here: clubchristopher.Damien Kyle/8905/ENGLISH

There are plenty of other good places as well, such as Café Oscar (hot bartenders!). I'd recommend checking out this site, it has a great guide to the gay places in Copenhagen and is in English: out-and-about.Damien Kyle/gayguide.asp

Hope that helps and that you and your bf will enjoy what used to be my beloved hometown! :)
