  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Is fashion another way older gay men are made to feel not wanted?

my observation is that older people who always dress in the latest fashion - have a problem with their own age.
the same type of persons which stand on the side of the dance floor or at the bar in a pub and just glare at the other people without ever moving a leg by themselves. and if you just say hello to them they think you must be flirting with them.

the other type of persons are those that kinda do look down on us younger people as if we still were some immature whelps. they are self-confindent and have no problem with being in the middle of the dancefloor. and if that already doesn't make them hot, they quite often also look really hot. unfortunately it's almost impossible to hit on them. they are friendly, yes. but at the same time they give you a look like "i've seen so many like you before, so why should i be impressed". self-confidence is hot, so i bit my teeth more than once on someone like that ;)

of couuuurse i know that there are different people in between those two types i just potraied :) but i think those two overdrawn examples show my position best ;)

Part of the problem may be where you are looking to see the latest fashions. Yes, a lot of magazines are geared toward people in their late teens/early 20's, but there are others that are specifically for different age groups.

If anyone thinks what I wear is more important than who I am, then the shallow end of the pool needs to make room for them.

I'm not 22, I don't wanna look 22 and I have no interest in shopping where a 22 year old would. That being said, I dress well and look good. I have enough confidence that I don't need to try and look trendy.

That's very funny.

Since nobody responded, maybe nobody here knows who that guy is.

Were you being purposefully ironic? Do you know who he is?
