Haven't flown post 9-11. And really, at this point, i don't want to. Greyhound is much easier to deal with - and i say this, seeing as how my FIRST Greyhound trip saw me on a 14 hour delay...

Greyhound can be just as dangerous and annoying as flying!
Last year a man in Canada got his head cut off while asleep on the greyhound. creepy!

And it takes forever to get anywhere by bus. I prefer flying, always. If flying isn't an option, I'll take rail!

I havent found security to be an issue. If you fly often you catch on quickly. Don't bring liquids, have your shoes off, and your belt going through security before being asked. Have visas prepared, passport ready. Try to not even bring a carry on if you don't need one. The past 2 weeks I was on 6 different planes, even in Beijing where security is nuts, it went really well.

Never like flying since little. Try to avoid it as possible.

I have learnt to live with all the irritations associated with flying... it's part and parcel of my love of travel... and living on an island, I can't go anywhere without crossing several seas and oceans!!

oh god, looks like this thread is going to be a bunch of pampered Americans whining about having to wait around for a couple of hours. waiting around a comfortable airport with food, drinks, toilets and entertainment at their finger tips.

Oh boo hoo, i feel sad for ya. how horrible. poor pampered little pooches.

ugh.... im outa here.

With my real name I always have to go through a “random” extra screening. I also always get harassed because the state of Oregon when one changes their address doesn’t give out new ID, they just send out a sticker with the new address.

Because of both of the above I have to get to the airport about three or four hours early depending on when I am suppose to leave and where I am. Almost all of my flying these days is from PDX to LAS, LAX or BUR. Sadly PDX is the worst for me each and every time.

I only fly anymore when I really just want to get the hell out of Oregon. It’s not worth it any other time.

I never liked flying. I prefer the train. Very relaxing.

Besides, they don't even offer a reach around when they search you at the airport. Pretty soon we'll have to fly naked, they are so paranoid.

No thanks.

Inconvenient would be boating across the Pacific.

I like flying. My nose is usually pressed boyishly to the window. I like clouds and imagining what's down below. Spotting mountains, canyons and rivers. Zooming through the air and taking off. Spotting thunderstorms. Going places! I think aviation itself is interesting.

If I had to travel for work I might feel otherwise. And as in anything it's the human factor which brings the most vexation.

I logged millions of miles over about 30 yrs..Nowadays, people (passengers to be precise) are pushy, nasty, smelly, demanding, RUDE and airports are like bus stations any more. Really detracts from what used to be a pleasurable experience even when I had to sit in economy.

I've never found it to be a big deal. I find it a great time to do some reading and music-listening - both on the plane and sitting at the gate (after I get through security).

No I go get my boarding pass, wait in line to walk through the metal detector, then on my way to the terminal. Not too inconvenient if i say so myself. I do like a seat in the front of back of the airplane so I can exit faster though. Thats just annoying being in a plane any longer than I have to be.

Hmm.

I'm in Oregon. I'm in PDX 3-6 times per year and am never hassled. I have about 3 address change stickers on my license too, haha. But I'm a white 23 year old, maybe that helps.

I always get there two hours early. Try not to bring carry on luggage. Always have my laptop out and ready if I do, shoes off, etc. Walk through, retrieve my stuff, go to terminal and wait an hour and a half until boarding. Painless every time, but perhaps mildly irritating. By far faster than any other option-- bus, train, driving myself.

Just bring a book. I find I can generally get a good start or possibly finish an entire book through the entire flying experience.

Guess I am getting old, the only lay overs that intice me anymore include a bedroom and a breakfast. lol!oops!!oops!

I know what to do at an airport. My book and my mp3-player keep me entertained. I take my belt off and empty my pockets before I go through security. I smile at the tired and overworked staff. I go through it all with a spring in my step and a song in my heart.

But my god, the stress. You can taste it. People are just so incredibly stressed and annoyed at an airport. And let's be fair: it's a hassle even at the best of times. Queue, wait, queue, security, wander, wait, queue, wait and finally you're off. Compare this with trains or buses: you rock up 20 minutes in advance, dump your bag, and take your seat. With the time you spend before and after your flight, flying's not faster than any of the other modes of transportation. Plus, on a bus/train you get to see the world roll by.

Yeah, I'll take the train, thanks.

First there is no security measure I will not endure. I love to be patted down, and I enjoy everything about that experience, especially if it is another man who is hot. Also I am retired, so I am never in a hurry, even with bad weather. I just want to get there in one piece.

When I visited Israel, I went to the Kinesset, and they check every orafice of your body including the urethra, can I help it if I have a hard on?

I fly quite a bit, and the only way I cope is to make use of lounges wherever I can and, when in the air, remind myself... it's just one big bus with wings. It's not supposed to be comfortable or quiet.

NO damn it. The whole bunch of you cannot go to Israel now. First of all you have to be circumcised or you will be denied entrance. Said circumcised state must be verified by one of my qualified exspurt verifiers.

Any questions, see my official Head of review board Mr. Shep. Explicit photographs may be acceptable with his official seal of approval.

Not really. I fly all the time. Print my boarding pass the night before, show up at the aiport 30 minutes before takeoff and walk right on the plane. Never even have to show anyone an ID, or sort liquids or whatever the hell you Americans have to do at the airport. The only annoying thing is having to take my phone and wallet out of my pockets before I go through security.
